Aneta Woman Faces 4 Felonies After Driving Toward Children<\/h2>\n

Aneta, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Ashley Jerome faces four felony charges after an incident involving children in Aneta.<\/p>\n

Jerome, 34, is charged with four counts of reckless endangerment with extreme indifference.<\/p>\n

The charges were filed in Nelson County District Court following an incident reported September 26.<\/p>\n

Deputies allege Jerome drove toward a group of children following a dispute involving her son’s bicycle.<\/p>\n

Bike Dispute Leads to Confrontation<\/h2>\n

According to the probable cause declaration, neighborhood children had hidden a boy’s bike as a prank.<\/p>\n

The bike was later returned, according to the court filing.<\/p>\n

A witness said Jerome later drove to the area where the children were gathered.<\/p>\n

The witness said Jerome yelled at the group.<\/p>\n

One child then ran inside crying, according to the declaration.<\/p>\n

Another witness reported seeing Jerome’s vehicle travel quickly toward the children with its high beams on.<\/p>\n

That witness estimated the vehicle was traveling between 55 and 60 mph.<\/p>\n

He said the vehicle swerved and braked within four to six feet of the children.<\/p>\n

The witness said he stepped in front of the group before Jerome swerved around him.<\/p>\n

Another person told deputies he believed the vehicle was going to hit him.<\/p>\n

Jerome Gives Deputies Her Account<\/h2>\n

Jerome later told deputies her son came to her workplace after the bicycle dispute.<\/p>\n

She said her son reported another child had taken his bike and threatened him.<\/p>\n

Jerome said she left work and drove around looking for the children.<\/p>\n

She acknowledged speeding toward the group because she wanted to learn what happened.<\/p>\n

Jerome disputed witness estimates of her speed.<\/p>\n

She estimated she was traveling between 35 and 40 mph.<\/p>\n

The declaration says Jerome appeared remorseful while speaking with deputies.<\/p>\n

She told investigators she was upset because she believed her son was being bullied.<\/p>\n

Four Felony Charges Filed<\/h2>\n

Jerome was arrested and taken to the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center.<\/p>\n

She was later released after signing a promise to appear in court on October 24.<\/p>\n
