Roseau, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Cody Jerome Olson faces a felony motor vehicle theft charge in Roseau County District Court.<\/p>\n

The charge follows the reported theft of a water truck from a Roseau trucking company on September 6, 2026.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, the truck was later returned to the company’s parking lot.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors accuse Olson of taking or driving the truck without the owner’s consent.<\/p>\n

Water Truck Reported Stolen and Returned<\/h2>\n

Police responded to R&Q Trucking around 11:15 a.m. after the company reported the truck had been returned.<\/p>\n

An employee showed police where the water truck had been parked.<\/p>\n

The driver’s door was left open, and the key remained in the ignition.<\/p>\n

The employee did not believe anything was missing from inside the truck.<\/p>\n

Company surveillance showed a gray GMC Sierra arriving at the lot around 7:51 a.m.<\/p>\n

The Sierra parked next to a yellow truck, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The water truck was then seen leaving the property westbound.<\/p>\n

Surveillance later showed the water truck returning at about 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

Investigators Focus on Olson<\/h2>\n

The owner told investigators he suspected Cody Jerome Olson.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Olson had previously stolen the same water truck in 2021.<\/p>\n

Investigators obtained information about Olson’s pickup and compared it with surveillance footage.<\/p>\n

City surveillance also showed a gray GMC Sierra traveling on Center Street West that morning.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Olson had an active Department of Corrections warrant at the time.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement issued an alert asking officers to watch for Olson in the area.<\/p>\n

Olson Found Later That Night<\/h2>\n

Olson was located at a Circle K in Roseau at about 10:57 p.m.<\/p>\n

Authorities also found the gray 2008 GMC Sierra registered to Olson.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle matched the pickup shown in trucking company surveillance.<\/p>\n

Olson was arrested on the outstanding warrant.<\/p>\n

Investigators later reviewed additional surveillance from R&Q Trucking.<\/p>\n

The complaint says video appeared to show Olson driving the water truck when it was returned.<\/p>\n

Investigators also reported that the driver’s clothing appeared to match Olson’s clothing during his arrest.<\/p>\n

Felony Theft Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Olson is charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible fine of up to $20,000.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists a 2021 felony motor vehicle theft conviction involving Olson.<\/p>\n
