Bemidji, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Christopher Allen Bratvold-Wright faces a felony domestic assault charge in Beltrami County District Court.<\/p>\n

The charge follows a reported domestic incident on September 18, 2026, in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, police responded around 8:18 a.m. after receiving a report of a domestic assault.<\/p>\n

A woman identified as B.P. told police she argued with Bratvold-Wright over vehicle keys.<\/p>\n

She said the argument later became physical.<\/p>\n

B.P. told investigators Bratvold-Wright refused to give her the vehicle keys.<\/p>\n

She alleged he then kicked her in the side of her leg.<\/p>\n

The complaint says both people fell to the ground after the alleged kick.<\/p>\n

B.P. alleged Bratvold-Wright held her down while they were on the ground.<\/p>\n

She said he released her after she screamed for help.<\/p>\n

Police reported seeing bruising or discoloration on her upper right thigh.<\/p>\n

A witness also spoke with investigators after hearing B.P. call for help.<\/p>\n

The witness reported seeing B.P. running away from Bratvold-Wright.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Bratvold-Wright then left the area in the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Bratvold-Wright Gives Different Account<\/h2>\n

Police later found Bratvold-Wright at Walmart, where he was arrested.<\/p>\n

After being advised of his rights, he gave investigators his account of the incident.<\/p>\n

Bratvold-Wright said B.P. had locked him out of their home.<\/p>\n

He said they argued after he entered the residence.<\/p>\n

He told investigators the argument later moved outside.<\/p>\n

Bratvold-Wright said B.P. pushed him and he pushed her back.<\/p>\n

He said both then fell to the ground.<\/p>\n

Bratvold-Wright said his knee struck B.P.’s leg during the fall.<\/p>\n

He said that caused the bruising investigators observed.<\/p>\n

Felony Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Bratvold-Wright with felony domestic assault under Minnesota Statute 609.2242.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges the offense involved fear of immediate bodily harm or death.<\/p>\n

It also states Bratvold-Wright has three prior domestic-violence-related convictions within the past ten years.<\/p>\n

The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.<\/p>\n
