MCHENRY COUNTY FATAL CRASH

Where: 44th Street North and 12th Avenue North, approximately 3 miles east of Velva<\/p>\n

When: Tuesday, September 22, 7:30 a.m. (central time)
\nRoad Conditions: Dry<\/p>\n

Weather Conditions: Clear and sunny<\/p>\n

Crash Involvement: Vehicle\/CMV<\/p>\n

Type of Crash: Right angle, t-bone crash<\/p>\n

Agencies Involved: North Dakota State Patrol, McHenry County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Velva Fire and Ambulance<\/p>\n

Vehicle No. 1: 2004 Freightliner CMV pulling a dump trailer<\/p>\n

Driver No. 1: Male, 46, Parshall, not injured
\nRestraints: Seatbelt in use
\nCharges: Under investigation<\/p>\n

Vehicle No. 2: 2012 GMC Sierra
\nDriver No. 2: Male, 67, Karlsruhe, fatal injuries
\nRestraints: Seatbelt in use<\/p>\n

NARRATIVE: On Tuesday, September 22 at approximately 7:30 a.m., a 2012 GMC Sierra was traveling west on 44th Street North near Velva. A 2004 Freightliner CMV pulling a dump trailer was traveling east on the same roadway. As the Freightliner was turning north onto 12th Avenue North, it struck the Sierra. The driver of the Sierra died at the scene; the driver of the Freightliner was not injured.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota State Patrol.
