Hill moved to Thief River Falls 20 years ago to attend Northland Community and Technical College. \u00a0Thief River Falls became his home. \u00a0He was known in this community for his gift to gab with anybody and everybody.<\/p>\n<p>John worked various jobs in the community, including Arctic Cat, VFW, Hardware Hank, Ericco, and Woodmaster. \u00a0He met a lot of friends that became his family through his work. \u00a0While working at Arctic Cat he met Cassandra Olson. \u00a0Cassandra, her husband Brent, and their family took John under their wing and he ventured out and met wonderful people in this community.<\/p>\n<p>John always had nicknames for the people he was closest to. \u00a0The Olson\u2019s grandkids were very special to John \u2013 nicknaming Miah as Monkey, Ariel as Princess, and Eric as Crazy Boy. \u00a0Brent\u2019s mother was affectionately known as Mom.<\/p>\n<p>John loved woodworking, model planes, reading, and spending time with friends. \u00a0He was the type of guy you could call in the middle of the night for help, and he\u2019d come and get you. \u00a0He will be missed.<br \/>\nohn is survived by the Olson Family \u2013 Brent, Cassandra, Garrett, Kyle, Chelsey, Blaine (Caitlyn), Miah, Eric, Ariel, Rylan, and Colter; and Brent\u2019s Mom, Joyce Olson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; John Hill, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Oak Crossing Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, MN.
