New Town (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Four suspects are in custody after a deadly shooting Friday in the New Town area.<\/p>\n

Two people were killed, and another person was injured, according to authorities. The injured person was taken to Trinity Hospital in Minot for treatment.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. Authorities have not released the names of the two people who died.<\/p>\n

Officials said the names will be released after relatives are notified.<\/p>\n

Four Suspects Taken Into Custody<\/h2>\n

Three Affiliated Tribes Law Enforcement Services reported Saturday that four suspects had been apprehended. Authorities said there was no known threat to the public.<\/p>\n

The FBI<\/a> is leading the investigation. Tribal, local, state, and federal agencies are assisting with the case.<\/p>\n

The FBI said the case falls under federal jurisdiction. The agency is working with the Three Affiliated Tribes Police Department.<\/p>\n

An earlier emergency alert described two armed males dressed in black. The alert said they were on foot in the New Town area.<\/p>\n

Residents were told to remain inside, lock doors, and stay away from windows. Others were asked to avoid New Town and Four Bears.<\/p>\n

Shelter Order Lifted<\/h2>\n

The shelter-in-place order was issued late Friday night. The order covered New Town and the Four Bears area.<\/p>\n

The MHA Emergency Operations Center lifted the order at 6:10 a.m. Saturday. Officials said there was no further public safety threat.<\/p>\n

New Town College Announces Closure<\/h2>\n

Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College<\/a> announced it will close Monday. Normal operations are expected to resume Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The college said the closure follows Friday’s tragedies and the death of an MHA Nation elder. Counseling services will be available for students needing support.<\/p>\n

The investigation remains active. Authorities have not released additional details about the suspects or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.<\/p>\n
