Grand Forks Man Held on $1M Bond in Car Attack<\/h2>\n

Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 A $1 million bond has been set for Ian Schneeweis.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old Grand Forks man faces three counts of attempted murder and several other charges.<\/p>\n

The charges follow a September 23 incident involving pedestrians and a vehicle in Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

Authorities allege Schneeweis used his 2007 Honda Accord to strike two pedestrians during the incident.<\/p>\n

A third pedestrian was also targeted but escaped without being struck, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Schneeweis Faces 12 Criminal Charges<\/h2>\n

Schneeweis now faces 12 charges in Grand Forks County District Court.<\/p>\n

They include three counts of attempted murder and two counts of criminal vehicular injury.<\/p>\n

He also faces reckless endangerment, terrorizing, criminal mischief and preventing arrest charges.<\/p>\n

Other charges include misdemeanor allegations involving a controlled substance.<\/p>\n

The charges are connected to events near the 1600 block of South 16th Street.<\/p>\n

Court Records Detail Pedestrian Injuries<\/h2>\n

One man told investigators he was standing on a sidewalk outside his apartment.<\/p>\n

He reportedly saw a gray sedan enter the parking area at high speed.<\/p>\n

The vehicle later returned and drove toward him, according to the court affidavit.<\/p>\n

The man suffered a brain bleed, fractured facial bone and other injuries.<\/p>\n

A woman walking her dog was also struck during the incident.<\/p>\n

Court records say she suffered a broken leg and significant bruising.<\/p>\n

Another woman ran after seeing the vehicle approach her.<\/p>\n

The vehicle instead struck a tree, according to investigators.<\/p>\n

Driver Arrested After Leaving Crash Scene<\/h2>\n

Authorities said Schneeweis left the area on foot following the crashes.<\/p>\n

He was taken into custody a short distance from the scene.<\/p>\n

Schneeweis was first taken to Altru Health System<\/a> for evaluation.<\/p>\n

He was later booked into the Grand Forks Correctional Center.<\/p>\n

Court records allege Schneeweis admitted using methamphetamine earlier that day.<\/p>\n

Investigators also documented statements Schneeweis allegedly made after his arrest.<\/p>\n
