Fosston Woman Killed in Clay County Crash<\/h2>\n

Clay County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A 19-year-old Fosston woman died in an early Friday morning crash.<\/p>\n

A 21-year-old Sisseton, South Dakota, man suffered life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

The crash happened around 1:41 a.m. on September 25, 2026.<\/p>\n

Authorities responded to the 10000 block of 90th Avenue North in rural Clay County.<\/p>\n

Cell Phone Automatically Reports Crash<\/h2>\n

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office learned about the crash through an automatic cell phone notification.<\/p>\n

Dispatchers reportedly heard what sounded like someone moaning in the background of the alert.<\/p>\n

Deputies and other emergency crews were immediately sent to the area.<\/p>\n

When responders arrived, they found a vehicle that had left the roadway.<\/p>\n

The vehicle had struck a power pole, according to the sheriff’s office.<\/p>\n

Two people were found inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Fosston Woman Pronounced Dead<\/h2>\n

The 19-year-old woman from Fosston was a passenger in the vehicle.<\/p>\n

She was pronounced dead at the crash scene.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old Sisseton man was identified as the driver.<\/p>\n

He suffered serious injuries described as life-threatening.<\/p>\n

Sanford Ambulance transported him to a local hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

Authorities have not released either person’s name.<\/p>\n

Speed and Alcohol Being Investigated<\/h2>\n

The Minnesota State Patrol<\/a> was called to reconstruct the crash.<\/p>\n

Investigators are working to determine exactly how the vehicle left the roadway.<\/p>\n

Preliminary information indicates speed may have contributed to the crash.<\/p>\n

Investigators also believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor.<\/p>\n

The findings remain preliminary while the investigation continues.<\/p>\n

Names Expected After Family Notification<\/h2>\n

Authorities plan to withhold the victims’ names until relatives have been notified.<\/p>\n
