Thief River Falls Man Gets 3 Years on Drug Charge<\/h2>\n

Thief River Falls<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Shane Scott Stone, 54, was sentenced to 36 months in prison on a felony drug charge.<\/p>\n

Stone was sentenced for third-degree controlled substance crime involving possession.<\/p>\n

He was also sentenced for misdemeanor fourth-degree driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

A gross misdemeanor contraband charge was dismissed.<\/p>\n

For the felony offense, Stone received a 36-month prison sentence.<\/p>\n

He was also ordered to provide a DNA sample.<\/p>\n

Stone may not use or possess firearms, ammunition or explosives.<\/p>\n

He was ordered to pay $210 in fees and fines.<\/p>\n

DWI Sentence Considered Complete<\/h2>\n

Stone also received a 90-day jail sentence for the DWI offense.<\/p>\n

Credit for time already served made that jail sentence complete.<\/p>\n

He was ordered to pay another $50 fine for the DWI conviction.<\/p>\n

The charges followed a May 3, 2025, traffic stop on 130th Street Northeast.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, the officer noticed signs of possible controlled substance impairment.<\/p>\n

The officer also noticed a burn mark on Stone’s right index finger.<\/p>\n

Stone then failed field sobriety tests, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Search Finds Drug Paraphernalia<\/h2>\n

Law enforcement found an improperly packaged marijuana container during the investigation.<\/p>\n

A backpack behind the driver’s seat contained hypodermic needles, a digital scale and a glass pipe.<\/p>\n

The scale and pipe tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Investigators later obtained a search warrant for a blood sample.<\/p>\n

The sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension<\/a> for analysis.<\/p>\n

Meth Found During Booking Process<\/h2>\n

Stone was asked whether he had contraband before entering the pre-booking area.<\/p>\n

Investigators later determined he had thrown a bag before sitting down.<\/p>\n

The bag contained methamphetamine, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

With packaging included, the bag weighed 19.4 grams.<\/p>\n

The original contraband charge connected to that allegation was later dismissed.<\/p>\n

Stone was sentenced on the felony possession and misdemeanor DWI counts.<\/p>\n
