Karlsruhe Man Killed in Crash Near Velva<\/h2>\n

Velva (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 A 67-year-old Karlsruhe man died Tuesday morning in a crash east of Velva.<\/p>\n

The crash happened at about 7:30 a.m. on September 22.<\/p>\n

It occurred at 44th Street North and 12th Avenue North.<\/p>\n

The intersection is about three miles east of Velva.<\/p>\n

Pickup and Freightliner Collide<\/h2>\n

According to the North Dakota State Patrol, a 2012 GMC Sierra was traveling west on 44th Street North.<\/p>\n

A 2004 Freightliner was traveling east on the same road.<\/p>\n

The Freightliner was pulling a dump trailer at the time.<\/p>\n

Investigators said the Freightliner began turning north onto 12th Avenue North.<\/p>\n

The commercial vehicle then struck the Sierra in a right-angle crash.<\/p>\n

The impact was described as a T-bone collision.<\/p>\n

The 67-year-old Sierra driver suffered fatal injuries.<\/p>\n

He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

His name was not included in the initial news release.<\/p>\n

Freightliner Driver Not Injured<\/h2>\n

The Freightliner driver was a 46-year-old man from Parshall.<\/p>\n

He was not injured in the crash.<\/p>\n

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to the State Patrol.<\/p>\n

Road conditions were dry when the crash happened.<\/p>\n

The weather was clear and sunny.<\/p>\n

Authorities did not announce any charges in the initial report.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

Several Agencies Responded<\/h2>\n

The North Dakota State Patrol is leading the investigation.<\/p>\n

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.<\/p>\n

Velva Fire and Ambulance assisted with the emergency response.<\/p>\n
