Fargo Woman Charged After Alleged Hammer Attack<\/h2>\n

Fargo, North Dakota<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Fargo woman faces an aggravated domestic assault charge after an alleged hammer attack.<\/p>\n

Police identified the woman as Jeanine Rico.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to a south Fargo apartment on September 19.<\/p>\n

They found a man outside the apartment with a severe head injury, according to police records.<\/p>\n

Officers detained Rico at the scene.<\/p>\n

Witnesses Report Injured Man Leaving Apartment<\/h2>\n

Witnesses told investigators the injured man stumbled out of the apartment.<\/p>\n

They said Rico followed him outside while yelling at him.<\/p>\n

Neighbors helped the man sit down and began providing first aid.<\/p>\n

They also kept Rico away from him until police arrived.<\/p>\n

The man told officers Rico had struck him several times with a hammer.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Sanford for medical treatment.<\/p>\n

Argument Allegedly Started Over Medical Supplies<\/h2>\n

Police later interviewed the man at the hospital.<\/p>\n

He said he had asked Rico for sterilized water.<\/p>\n

The water was needed to clean a breathing tube in his neck, according to the report.<\/p>\n

He told police the request led to an argument between them.<\/p>\n

The man said Rico pushed him toward the apartment door.<\/p>\n

He began falling and grabbed Rico to keep himself from hitting the floor.<\/p>\n

According to the report, Rico then went to a utility closet.<\/p>\n

Investigators said she retrieved a hammer from the closet.<\/p>\n

The man alleged Rico struck his head, back and elbows with the hammer.<\/p>\n

Police Document Multiple Injuries<\/h2>\n

Officers reported seeing a large gash on the man’s scalp.<\/p>\n

They also documented injuries to his arms, face and legs.<\/p>\n

Police records say other children were inside the home during the incident.<\/p>\n

Those children were taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services.<\/p>\n

The injured man was also placed into protective custody while at the hospital.<\/p>\n

Rico was arrested at the apartment.<\/p>\n

She was later booked into the Cass County Jail.<\/p>\n
