Moorhead Mayoral Candidate Faces DWI Charges<\/h2>\n

Moorhead (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Craig Whaley, a candidate for Moorhead mayor, faces driving while impaired charges after a September 11 arrest.<\/p>\n

Court records cited by local news reports say Whaley was driving a red Chevrolet Silverado.<\/p>\n

The truck became stuck in loose sand and gravel inside a construction zone.<\/p>\n

Police responded after a witness reported the vehicle in the construction area.<\/p>\n

According to the court account, Whaley said he became stuck while driving through the area.<\/p>\n

When asked how much alcohol he consumed, Whaley reportedly answered, \u201ca bunch.\u201d<\/p>\n

The responding officer reported slow, slurred speech and problems with Whaley’s balance.<\/p>\n

Breath Test Reported at 0.17<\/h2>\n

Police arrested Whaley and took him to jail for further testing.<\/p>\n

A breath test later registered an alcohol concentration of 0.17, according to the court account.<\/p>\n

Whaley’s current charges remain allegations.<\/p>\n

He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n

Booking records previously reviewed by TRF News list two second-degree DWI charges.<\/p>\n

One count alleges driving while impaired by alcohol.<\/p>\n

The second alleges an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher.<\/p>\n

Minnesota law<\/a> classifies second-degree DWI as a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

The law applies when specified aggravating factors accompany an impaired-driving violation.<\/p>\n

Whaley Listed as Moorhead Mayoral Candidate<\/h2>\n

Whaley was booked into the Clay County correctional system early September 12.<\/p>\n

The Moorhead Police Department<\/a> is listed as the arresting agency.<\/p>\n

The City of Moorhead<\/a> currently lists Craig Whoot E. Whaley as a mayoral candidate.<\/p>\n

The city’s candidate page also lists Lisa A. Borgen and Del Rae Williams.<\/p>\n

The election is scheduled for November 3, 2026.<\/p>\n
