Gregory Allan Hardt Jr., 42, is charged in Clay County District Court. The case is filed under court number 14-CR-26-3292.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors charged Hardt with gross misdemeanor domestic assault. The charge alleges a prior qualified domestic violence-related conviction within ten years.<\/p>\n
Hardt also faces a misdemeanor charge of fleeing a peace officer by means other than a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n
Woman Reports Assault<\/h2>\n
According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement responded to a Moorhead home after a reported domestic assault.<\/p>\n
The woman told investigators she had been arguing with Hardt, whom she was dating.<\/p>\n
She alleged Hardt slapped her across the face during the argument. She said she then threw her phone at him.<\/p>\n
The complaint says Hardt took the phone and broke its screen. He then allegedly pushed the woman to the floor.<\/p>\n
She told authorities Hardt kicked her several times in the legs.<\/p>\n
The woman left the home because she was frightened, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n
She later returned and tried to sleep. The complaint says another argument began after she came back.<\/p>\n
The woman left again and asked a neighbor to call law enforcement.<\/p>\n
Responding officers reported seeing a small cut and redness on the woman’s shin.<\/p>\n
Search Leads To Shed<\/h2>\n
The complaint says Hardt acknowledged an argument occurred. It says he did not provide further details about the dispute.<\/p>\n
Authorities then attempted to arrest Hardt on suspicion of domestic assault.<\/p>\n
The complaint alleges Hardt resisted and ran from the scene. A police K9 was brought in during the search.<\/p>\n
Officers later found Hardt hiding in a shed, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n
The complaint says Hardt refused repeated commands to come outside. It says officers also warned him about the K9.<\/p>\n
The K9 was then used to apprehend Hardt, according to the filing.<\/p>\n
Charges Filed In Clay County<\/h2>\n
The domestic assault count is filed under Minnesota Statute 609.2242<\/a>, subdivision 2.<\/p>\n That charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n The fleeing count is filed under Minnesota Statute 609.487<\/a>, subdivision 6.<\/p>\n That misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n The complaint states Hardt has a prior qualified conviction from North Dakota.<\/p>\n A criminal complaint contains allegations and does not establish guilt.
