{"id":51130,"date":"2026-09-14T14:18:46","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T19:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=51130"},"modified":"2026-09-11T04:23:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T09:23:09","slug":"thief-river-falls-man-gets-28-months-in-meth-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/thief-river-falls-man-gets-28-months-in-meth-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Thief River Falls Man Gets 28 Months in Meth Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Thief River Falls Man Gets 28 Months in Meth Case<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Thief River Falls (<a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\">trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Travis Bruce Johnson was sentenced to prison for two felony drug-related offenses.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson, of Thief River Falls, received 28 months for possessing substances with intent to manufacture methamphetamine.<\/p>\n<p>He also received 17 months for storing chemical substances near a child or vulnerable adult.<\/p>\n<p>The 17-month sentence will run at the same time as the 28-month sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson must provide a DNA sample and pay $135 in fees and fines for the first offense.<\/p>\n<p>He must also pay a $50 fine for the second offense.<\/p>\n<h2>Investigation Focused on Meth Precursors<\/h2>\n<p>The case began after investigators learned Johnson allegedly possessed several possible methamphetamine precursors on July 6.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, those items included methanol, isopropyl alcohol, butane fuel, kerosene, camp fuel, and drain cleaner.<\/p>\n<p>Many of those products also have common household uses.<\/p>\n<p>However, authorities said they can also be used during methamphetamine production.<\/p>\n<p>Surveillance video showed Johnson buying drain cleaner at Walmart, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>He allegedly paid with cash taken from a large stack of $100 bills.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center; margin: 25px 0;\"><!-- Replace MUGSHOT_IMAGE_URL with the official mugshot URL. --><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/JohnsonTravis.jpg\" alt=\"Travis Bruce Johnson mugshot\" \/><em>Travis Bruce Johnson<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Search Conducted at Thief River Falls Home<\/h2>\n<p>Authorities searched Johnson&#8217;s home, garage, and vehicle on July 7.<\/p>\n<p>The residence was at Sherwood Park Townhomes in Thief River Falls.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint noted a shared playground outside the multi-unit residential building.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the apartment, authorities found what they described as a methamphetamine ingredients list.<\/p>\n<p>The list was found inside a bathroom vanity.<\/p>\n<p>Two masks were also found there.<\/p>\n<p>Police found a digital scale and glass pipe in the living room.<\/p>\n<p>Both tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Zip-top bags were also found inside the residence.<\/p>\n<h2>Chemicals Found Inside Garage<\/h2>\n<p>Investigators reported finding a five-gallon bucket containing a wet chemical substance inside Johnson&#8217;s garage.<\/p>\n<p>The material had a strong chemical odor, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities believed it could be connected to methamphetamine production.<\/p>\n<p>The substance was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators also found several chemicals, matches, batteries, fuel, and other products inside the garage.<\/p>\n<p>Additional items were found inside Johnson&#8217;s vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint said several items could be used as methamphetamine manufacturing ingredients.<\/p>\n<h2>Previous Drug Convictions Listed<\/h2>\n<p>The complaint listed previous Pennington County drug convictions from 2021 and 2022.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/152.0262\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 152.0262<\/a> covers possession of substances with intent to manufacture methamphetamine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/152.137\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 152.137<\/a> addresses meth-related chemicals around children and vulnerable adults.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Adrian Cole reporting for <a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\">TRF News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Copyright 2026 TRF News.
