Shakopee Ex-Trooper Gets 27 Years in Abuse Case<\/h2>\n

Shakopee (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Jeremy Francis Plonski has been sentenced to 27 years in federal prison.<\/p>\n

Plonski, 31, is a former Minnesota State Patrol trooper.<\/p>\n

Federal Court Imposes 27-Year Sentence<\/h2>\n

Federal prosecutors said Plonski produced 23 videos involving child sexual abuse during 2023.<\/p>\n

They said he also distributed videos through a social media application.<\/p>\n

Some recordings showed Plonski wearing his State Patrol uniform.<\/p>\n

Plonski pleaded guilty in October 2025 to producing and distributing child pornography.<\/p>\n

Two other federal counts were dismissed under a plea agreement.<\/p>\n

The agreement called for a prison sentence between 23 and 28 years.<\/p>\n

A federal judge sentenced Plonski to 324 months in prison on September 8.<\/p>\n

He also received 15 years of supervised release after his prison term.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Minnesota<\/a> announced the sentence.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors Cite Betrayal of Public Trust<\/h2>\n

U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen said the case involved a serious betrayal of public trust.<\/p>\n

Rosen said the sentence shows a commitment to protecting vulnerable children.<\/p>\n

He also credited cooperation between federal and local law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota State Patrol said Plonski joined the agency in 2022.<\/p>\n

He was placed on leave after charges were filed in 2025.<\/p>\n

The agency later terminated his employment.<\/p>\n

Separate Scott County Case Remains<\/h2>\n

Plonski also faces a separate criminal sexual conduct case in Scott County.<\/p>\n

That state case involves the same child victim, according to court records.<\/p>\n

The federal sentence does not resolve the pending state charge.<\/p>\n

Federal investigators identified Plonski during a child exploitation investigation in 2025.<\/p>\n

The FBI and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension later searched his Shakopee home.<\/p>\n

Agents seized electronic devices and other evidence during that search.<\/p>\n

Federal Child Protection Investigation<\/h2>\n

Authorities said the federal case was part of Project Safe Childhood<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Justice Department program targets child sexual exploitation and abuse.<\/p>\n

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children<\/a> also provides reporting resources.<\/p>\n

Suspected child exploitation can be reported through the CyberTipline.<\/p>\n

Emergency situations should always be reported to 911.<\/p>\n
