What happened<\/h2>\n

The call came in around 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 22.<\/p>\n

Crews responded to Sugihara Hall<\/a> on the NDSU campus in Fargo.<\/p>\n

Fargo is the county seat of Cass County.<\/p>\n

The building is at 1311 Albrecht Blvd., near Centennial and Albrecht boulevards.<\/p>\n

Fire crews were sent after reports of a small explosion.<\/p>\n

When firefighters arrived, they found a light haze inside the lab area.<\/p>\n

They did not find an active fire, officials said.<\/p>\n

Crews checked the space for any ongoing danger.<\/p>\n

The incident was contained to the lab area, based on early reports.<\/p>\n

Injury and response<\/h2>\n

Officials said a worker was injured while handling the chemical.<\/p>\n

The chemical ignited during the handling, according to responders.<\/p>\n

Fargo Fire Department<\/a> crews provided initial help at the scene.<\/p>\n

They then assisted with moving the injured person to an ambulance crew.<\/p>\n

The person was evaluated and treated by Sanford Ambulance<\/a> staff.<\/p>\n
