Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A 19-year-old Redby man is facing felony charges after a stabbing at a Bemidji apartment, court records say.<\/p>\n

Charges filed in Beltrami County<\/h2>\n

Cameron Lee Kingbird<\/strong>, 19, was charged Monday in Beltrami County District Court.<\/p>\n

He is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n

He is also charged with false imprisonment.<\/p>\n

He is also charged with fifth-degree assault.<\/p>\n

Deputies called to the Bemidji apartment<\/h2>\n

Deputies responded around 1 a.m. Friday to 404 Town Hall Road NW in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

Dispatch reported an assault involving a weapon, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Deputies found Kingbird outside the building, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

He was holding his stomach and bleeding, records say.<\/p>\n

Victim found inside with stab wounds<\/h2>\n

Inside the apartment, deputies found the victim, court records say.<\/p>\n

The victim had been stabbed three times in the torso, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

The victim was having trouble breathing and could not speak, records say.<\/p>\n

Court records say the victim appeared to be frothing at the mouth.<\/p>\n

Witness account of the fight<\/h2>\n

A witness told investigators she arrived with her brother to hang out, records say.<\/p>\n

About 40 minutes later, she said Kingbird began acting strangely toward her.<\/p>\n

She said he put an arm around her and told her to stay, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

She also reported earlier unwanted comments, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

When she tried to leave, she said Kingbird grabbed her shoulders, records say.<\/p>\n

The victim tried to step in, and a fight started, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

Knife used during the scuffle<\/h2>\n

Court records say Kingbird grabbed a knife during the fight.<\/p>\n

Records say he stabbed the victim, then stabbed him two more times.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the victim was on the ground during the later strikes.<\/p>\n

Struggle over the weapon<\/h2>\n

The witness said she grabbed Kingbird\u2019s arms and took the knife away.<\/p>\n

During the struggle, she said Kingbird bit her hand, leaving a cut.<\/p>\n

She said she stabbed Kingbird in defense of her brother, records say.<\/p>\n

Investigation and court date<\/h2>\n

Deputies recovered a knife with apparent blood inside the apartment, records say.<\/p>\n

The victim later underwent surgery, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Medical records were still pending at the time of the filing.<\/p>\n

Kingbird is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
