Fergus Falls: Goltz Faces Knife Assault Charges<\/h2>\n

FERGUS FALLS, Minn.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Seth Thomas Goltz faces three charges after a roadside disturbance in Otter Tail County.<\/p>\n

Goltz, 39, is charged in District Court file 56-CR-26-2192.<\/p>\n

The charges include felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n

He also faces domestic assault and obstructing legal process charges.<\/p>\n

The alleged incident happened on Sept. 3, 2026.<\/p>\n

Vehicle Stops in Intersection<\/h2>\n

The complaint says deputies responded near U.S. Highway 59 and County Highway 88.<\/p>\n

A vehicle was stopped in the intersection when law enforcement arrived.<\/p>\n

Goltz was sitting in the passenger seat, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

A close relative had been driving Goltz toward his Fergus Falls home.<\/p>\n

The relative told police he missed an interstate exit and began turning around.<\/p>\n

Goltz allegedly became upset and said he needed to travel to Fargo instead.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say Goltz reached across the driver and grabbed the steering wheel.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was still moving at the time.<\/p>\n

The driver reported that approaching traffic made the situation dangerous.<\/p>\n

He stopped the car in the intersection and removed the keys.<\/p>\n

No law enforcement officer names are included in this report.<\/p>\n

Knife Allegedly Displayed<\/h2>\n

Deputies later told Goltz he was being placed under arrest.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Goltz refused to leave the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Officers continued asking him to exit voluntarily.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say Goltz then reached into a backpack on his lap.<\/p>\n

He allegedly pulled out a large folding knife and displayed the open blade.<\/p>\n

Officers repeatedly asked Goltz to put the knife down.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he eventually placed it on the dashboard.<\/p>\n

Police then opened the passenger door and took Goltz into custody.<\/p>\n

A dagger was allegedly found in his pocket.<\/p>\n

Investigators also reported finding several other knives on the passenger floorboard.<\/p>\n

Three Charges Filed<\/h2>\n

Count One alleges second-degree assault under Minnesota Statute 609.222<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The felony carries up to seven years in prison.<\/p>\n

A fine of up to $14,000 is also possible.<\/p>\n

Count Two alleges misdemeanor domestic assault.<\/p>\n

The charge cites Minnesota Statute 609.2242<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That count carries up to 90 days and a $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Count Three alleges obstructing legal process with force or threatened force.<\/p>\n

The charge cites Minnesota Statute 609.50<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists up to 364 days and a $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The criminal complaint contains allegations that have not been proven in court.<\/p>\n

Goltz is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n
