Crookston: Bailor Faces Felony Stolen Vehicle Charge<\/h2>\n

CROOKSTON, Minn.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Michael Charles Bailor faces a felony charge involving a vehicle reported stolen from Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

Bailor, 38, is charged in Polk County District Court file 60-CR-26-1275.<\/p>\n

The complaint charges him with possession of stolen property.<\/p>\n

The alleged offense happened on Aug. 29, 2026, in Polk County.<\/p>\n

Stolen Honda Found Along Highway 2<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Minnesota State Patrol responded to U.S. Highway 2 near milepost 37.<\/p>\n

A caller reported a man sleeping along the side of the highway.<\/p>\n

Police first noticed a white Honda Accord parked on the eastbound shoulder.<\/p>\n

A check of the license plate showed the Honda had been reported stolen from North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Farther down the highway, police found Bailor sleeping on the shoulder.<\/p>\n

Bailor allegedly said he was walking from Crookston to Duluth.<\/p>\n

No law enforcement officer names are included in this report.<\/p>\n

Surveillance Allegedly Linked Bailor to Vehicle<\/h2>\n

Dispatch later advised that the Honda had been stolen from Grand Forks earlier that day.<\/p>\n

The complaint says surveillance footage allegedly identified Bailor as the person connected to the theft.<\/p>\n

Police then challenged Bailor’s account about why he was walking along the highway.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Bailor then admitted stealing the car.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he voluntarily placed his hands behind his back before being detained.<\/p>\n

Bailor was arrested and taken to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston.<\/p>\n

Financial Cards Allegedly Found<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Bailor later gave a voluntary statement while his property was being processed.<\/p>\n

Investigators allegedly found six financial cards bearing several different names.<\/p>\n

Bailor reportedly said he did not know the people named on the cards.<\/p>\n

The complaint provided does not list a separate charge involving those cards.<\/p>\n

Felony Stolen Property Charge<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Bailor under Minnesota Statute 609.53<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The law covers knowingly receiving, possessing, transferring, buying, or concealing stolen property.<\/p>\n

Penalties are determined under Minnesota Statute 609.52<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists a maximum sentence of five years in prison.<\/p>\n

A fine of up to $10,000 is also possible.<\/p>\n
