{"id":49544,"date":"2026-09-11T10:38:35","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T15:38:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=49544"},"modified":"2026-09-07T13:03:02","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T18:03:02","slug":"bemidji-deppa-davis-faces-570-employee-theft-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/bemidji-deppa-davis-faces-570-employee-theft-charge\/","title":{"rendered":"Bemidji: Deppa-Davis Faces $570 Employee Theft Charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<h2>Bemidji: Deppa-Davis Faces $570 Employee Theft Charge<\/h2>\n<p><strong>BEMIDJI, Minn.<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Madison Danielle Deppa-Davis faces a gross misdemeanor theft charge involving a Bemidji convenience store.<\/p>\n<p>Deppa-Davis, 22, is charged in Beltrami County District Court file 04-CR-26-1909.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors allege she took $570 while working at Circle K North.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged thefts occurred between Feb. 2 and Feb. 18, 2026.<\/p>\n<h2>Manager Reports Missing Money<\/h2>\n<p>The complaint says police responded to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.circlek.com\/list-united-states-stores\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Circle K<\/a> at 3555 Moberg Drive NW.<\/p>\n<p>A store manager reported suspicious transactions linked to Deppa-Davis&#8217; employee identification number.<\/p>\n<p>The transactions were listed as customer incident payouts, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>The store normally uses those transactions to reimburse customers.<\/p>\n<p>The manager initially found several suspicious payouts totaling $380.<\/p>\n<p>No police officer names are included in this report.<\/p>\n<h2>Surveillance Allegedly Shows Repeated Transactions<\/h2>\n<p>Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage from several dates in February.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint describes transactions involving amounts ranging from $10 to $100.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators allege Deppa-Davis used the register while no customer was being helped.<\/p>\n<p>Several recordings allegedly showed her handling receipts and scanning an app on her phone.<\/p>\n<p>Other footage allegedly showed her placing cash into a pocket.<\/p>\n<p>The transactions occurred across several days, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators calculated the total amount observed on video at $570.<\/p>\n<h2>Deppa-Davis Allegedly Discusses Taking Money<\/h2>\n<p>Police later spoke with Deppa-Davis by telephone, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>She allegedly admitted taking $20 because she needed money for food.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says Deppa-Davis also acknowledged taking money more than once.<\/p>\n<p>She allegedly said the total was less than $1,000.<\/p>\n<p>Deppa-Davis also reportedly recalled taking $100 on several occasions.<\/p>\n<p>She allegedly described taking $50 on other occasions.<\/p>\n<p>Those statements are allegations contained in the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<h2>Gross Misdemeanor Theft Charge<\/h2>\n<p>Prosecutors charged Deppa-Davis under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.52\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 609.52<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The charge alleges property worth more than $500 but less than $1,000 was taken without consent.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint classifies the offense as a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n<p>A conviction can carry up to 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n<p>A fine of up to $3,000 is also possible.<\/p>\n<p>Those are maximum penalties and do not represent a sentence against Deppa-Davis.<\/p>\n<h2>Charge Remains an Allegation<\/h2>\n<p>The criminal complaint contains allegations that have not been proven in court.<\/p>\n<p>Deppa-Davis is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n<p>The case was filed by summons rather than an order of detention.<\/p>\n<p>Public case information is available through the <a href=\"https:\/\/mncourts.gov\/access-case-records\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Judicial Branch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Adrian Cole reporting for <a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TRF News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Copyright 2026 TRF News.
