Mahnomen: Fosmark Faces Bomb, Violence Threat Charges<\/h2>\n

MAHNOMEN, Minn.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Johnathon Emery Fosmark faces two felony threat charges in Mahnomen County District Court.<\/p>\n

Fosmark, 35, is charged in court file 44-CR-26-439.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from an alleged incident on July 13, 2026.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Fosmark made violent threats and later claimed a propane bomb was inside a camper.<\/p>\n

Threatening Messages Reported<\/h2>\n

The complaint says a mental health worker contacted law enforcement after receiving threatening text messages.<\/p>\n

The worker told investigators that Fosmark allegedly threatened to kill members of his family.<\/p>\n

The worker said the messages left him afraid for his safety.<\/p>\n

Investigators reviewed an image of one message, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say the message included threats involving firearms, explosives, and violence against the worker’s family.<\/p>\n

The worker reportedly told police he planned to leave his job because of the threats.<\/p>\n

Police Respond to Mahnomen County Camper<\/h2>\n

Law enforcement later went to a camper in Mahnomen County around 8:26 p.m.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Fosmark initially came outside and asked why officers were there.<\/p>\n

Police informed him that he was being arrested for alleged threats.<\/p>\n

Fosmark then went back inside the camper, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the situation became tense while officers tried to calm Fosmark.<\/p>\n

During the encounter, Fosmark allegedly claimed he had military-grade weapons inside the camper.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly claimed that he had created a propane bomb.<\/p>\n

Officers moved to safer positions while continuing efforts to end the encounter peacefully.<\/p>\n

Fosmark eventually stepped outside and was taken into custody.<\/p>\n

Police then searched the area, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Investigators reported finding no bomb or weapons.<\/p>\n

Two Felony Charges Filed<\/h2>\n

Count One charges Fosmark with communicating a threat involving an explosive device.<\/p>\n

The charge cites Minnesota Statute 609.713<\/a>, subdivision 2.<\/p>\n

A conviction can carry up to three years in prison.<\/p>\n

A fine of up to $3,000 is also possible.<\/p>\n

Count Two charges Fosmark with threats of violence.<\/p>\n

That charge falls under subdivision 1 of the same statute.<\/p>\n

A conviction can carry up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Those are maximum penalties and are not sentences against Fosmark.<\/p>\n
