Bemidji: Wolff Faces Felony DWI, Interlock Charge<\/h2>\n

BEMIDJI, Minn.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Janna Kaye Wolff faces felony DWI and ignition-interlock charges after a Bemidji police encounter.<\/p>\n

Wolff, 67, is charged in Beltrami County District Court file 04-CR-26-2123.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from an alleged incident on Sept. 3, 2026.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors filed one felony DWI count and one gross misdemeanor licensing count.<\/p>\n

Police Find Wolff in Polaris Ranger<\/h2>\n

The complaint says police contacted Wolff near Sixth Street and Beltrami Avenue Northwest.<\/p>\n

She was sitting in the driver’s seat of a Polaris Ranger.<\/p>\n

Police planned to discuss laws covering off-road vehicles on public streets.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Wolff told police she had driven into Bemidji.<\/p>\n

She reportedly said she was waiting for her attorney’s office to open.<\/p>\n

Dispatch advised police that Wolff’s driver’s license carried an ignition-interlock restriction.<\/p>\n

The Polaris Ranger did not have an ignition-interlock device, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

No police officer names are included in this report.<\/p>\n

Breath Test Allegedly Registers .16<\/h2>\n

Police reported smelling alcohol while speaking with Wolff.<\/p>\n

Investigators also reported glassy eyes and other possible signs of impairment.<\/p>\n

Wolff allegedly admitted drinking wine earlier.<\/p>\n

The complaint says she completed part of the field sobriety testing.<\/p>\n

Balance problems prevented her from completing two other tests.<\/p>\n

A preliminary breath test allegedly registered 0.18.<\/p>\n

Wolff was then arrested and taken to the Beltrami County Jail.<\/p>\n

The complaint says an evidentiary breath test later registered 0.16.<\/p>\n

Prior DWI Incidents Cited<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Wolff with first-degree DWI.<\/p>\n

The complaint cites prior impaired-driving incidents within the required period.<\/p>\n

It lists a 2020 third-degree DWI conviction in Itasca County.<\/p>\n

It also lists a 2021 second-degree DWI refusal conviction in Cass County.<\/p>\n

A separate 2026 DWI case was pending when this incident allegedly occurred.<\/p>\n

That pending case involved an implied-consent license revocation, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Minnesota Statute 169A.24<\/a> covers first-degree DWI.<\/p>\n

A conviction can carry up to seven years in prison.<\/p>\n

A fine of up to $14,000 is also possible.<\/p>\n

Ignition-Interlock Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Count Two alleges Wolff drove a vehicle without a required ignition-interlock device.<\/p>\n

The charge cites Minnesota Statute 171.09<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That violation is classified as a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists up to 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The criminal complaint contains allegations that have not been proven in court.<\/p>\n

Wolff is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n
