Mahnomen: Gonzalez Accused of Death Threats<\/h2>\n

MAHNOMEN, Minn. <\/strong>(trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Alan Joseph Gonzalez (Burnette) Jr. faces three criminal charges following an Aug. 29 incident in Mahnomen.<\/p>\n

Gonzalez, 41, is charged in Mahnomen County District Court.<\/p>\n

The case is filed as 44-CR-26-500.<\/p>\n

The charges include felony threats of violence and gross misdemeanor obstruction.<\/p>\n

He also faces a misdemeanor property-damage charge.<\/p>\n

Probation Check Leads to Police Contact<\/h2>\n

The criminal complaint says a probation officer requested a welfare and alcohol check on Gonzalez.<\/p>\n

GPS information allegedly showed him near the Wild Rice Lounge for about 25 minutes.<\/p>\n

The Wild Rice Lounge<\/a> is located in Mahnomen.<\/p>\n

An officer later contacted Gonzalez at Bruggeman’s grocery store, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Police reported red and watery eyes and an odor of alcohol.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Gonzalez admitted he had relapsed.<\/p>\n

He allegedly became upset when officers attempted to detain him.<\/p>\n

Police allege Gonzalez refused commands and appeared ready to swing a fist.<\/p>\n

He eventually went to the ground and was handcuffed.<\/p>\n

Death Threats Alleged<\/h2>\n

While being transported, Gonzalez allegedly made several threats toward law enforcement.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he threatened to kill officers after his release.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly made threatening remarks involving their families.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors charged Gonzalez with threats of violence under Minnesota Statute 609.713, subdivision 1.<\/p>\n

The felony carries up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000.<\/p>\n

Obstruction and Property Damage Charges<\/h2>\n

Gonzalez also faces a gross misdemeanor obstruction charge.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege he resisted or interfered with an officer while threatening force.<\/p>\n

That count carries up to 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

At the sheriff’s office, Gonzalez allegedly damaged items inside a holding cell.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he damaged a mattress and covered the cell camera.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly broke his ankle monitor against fixtures inside the cell.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors charged him with fourth-degree criminal damage to property.<\/p>\n

The misdemeanor carries up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The complaint contains allegations that have not been proven in court.<\/p>\n

Gonzalez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n
