East Grand Forks: Wicks Faces Drug, DWI Charges<\/h2>\n

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. <\/strong>(trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Adam Wicks faces felony drug possession and second-degree DWI charges in Polk County District Court.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from a Sept. 2, 2026, traffic stop in East Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

The case is filed as 60-CR-26-1299 in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors filed two counts against Wicks.<\/p>\n

Felony Drug Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Count One alleges third-degree controlled substance possession within a prohibited zone.<\/p>\n

The complaint cites Minnesota Statute 152.023, subdivision 2(a)(4).<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Wicks possessed methamphetamine near Itts Williams Park.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the location was within the park’s protected zone.<\/p>\n

The alleged offense occurred in East Grand Forks, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

They also reported a burnt-out driver’s side brake light.<\/p>\n

The truck was stopped in the 1300 block of Highway 220.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the stop occurred within the East Grand Forks Senior High School zone.<\/p>\n

Wicks was identified as the driver.<\/p>\n

Police reported that Wicks consented to a search of the vehicle.<\/p>\n

A syringe was allegedly found inside a glove on the vehicle’s floorboard.<\/p>\n

The complaint says a field test showed a presumptive positive result for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n

Wicks allegedly told police the syringe belonged to him.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly disclosed another syringe inside his sock.<\/p>\n

Second-Degree DWI Charge<\/h2>\n

Count Two alleges second-degree driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

The complaint cites Minnesota Statute 169A.20, subdivision 1(7).<\/p>\n

That provision covers driving with certain Schedule I or II substances in the body.<\/p>\n

Police obtained a urine sample after Wicks was taken to the police department.<\/p>\n

The complaint says an onsite test was positive for methamphetamine and THC.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors also cite two prior DUI convictions as aggravating factors.<\/p>\n

The listed convictions occurred in 2019 and 2021.<\/p>\n

Second-degree DWI is a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 169A.25<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n
