{"id":46630,"date":"2026-09-06T15:45:25","date_gmt":"2026-09-06T20:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=46630"},"modified":"2026-09-03T06:09:37","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T11:09:37","slug":"east-grand-forks-man-faces-felony-meth-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/east-grand-forks-man-faces-felony-meth-charge\/","title":{"rendered":"East Grand Forks Man Faces Felony Meth Charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>East Grand Forks Man Faces Felony Meth Charge<\/h2>\n<p><strong>East Grand Forks (<a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\">trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Chad Allen Ostlund faces felony drug and misdemeanor trespass charges in Polk County District Court.<\/p>\n<p>The charges stem from an August 19, 2026, incident near Sacred Heart School and Church.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors accuse Ostlund of possessing methamphetamine inside a prohibited school zone.<\/p>\n<p>He is also accused of returning to Sacred Heart after being ordered to stay away.<\/p>\n<h2>Police Called to Sacred Heart<\/h2>\n<p>Authorities were called to Sacred Heart around 9:18 a.m., according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p>The caller reported that Ostlund had been inside the building.<\/p>\n<p>Court records say he had previously been ordered not to return to the property.<\/p>\n<p>That trespass notice was issued in December 2025, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Ostlund had left Sacred Heart before officers arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Police later found him walking in an alley near a nearby gas station.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says Ostlund admitted that he had been inside the church.<\/p>\n<p>However, he allegedly told authorities that he did not know the trespass order remained active.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center; margin: 25px auto;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto; display: inline-block;\" src=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/OSTLUND-CHAD-ALLEN-2.jpg\" alt=\"Chad Allen Ostlund mugshot\" \/><figcaption>Chad Allen Ostlund<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Pipe Allegedly Tests Positive<\/h2>\n<p>Officers arrested Ostlund on suspicion of trespassing.<\/p>\n<p>During the arrest, authorities reported finding a glass pipe inside his jacket pocket.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says the pipe was field tested for controlled substances.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities reported that the test indicated the presence of methamphetamine.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors allege Ostlund possessed methamphetamine within the legally defined Sacred Heart school zone.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says he was within 300 feet of the school property when arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Ostlund declined to provide a urine sample, according to court records.<\/p>\n<h2>Felony Drug Charge Filed<\/h2>\n<p>Ostlund faces third-degree controlled substance crime involving possession in a prohibited zone.<\/p>\n<p>The charge cites <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/152.023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Statute 152.023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That felony carries up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>The trespass count is a misdemeanor.<\/p>\n<p>It carries up to 90 days in jail and a possible $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>The trespass law is available under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.605\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Statute 609.605<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Prosecutors Seek Possible Aggravated Sentence<\/h2>\n<p>Prosecutors also filed notice that they may seek an aggravated sentence.<\/p>\n<p>The notice applies if Ostlund is convicted or pleads guilty without an agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors allege an aggravated dispositional departure could be justified based on his probation history.<\/p>\n<p>The case is filed under court number 60-CR-26-1226.<\/p>\n<p>Public court records are available through <a href=\"https:\/\/mncourts.gov\/access-case-records\/mcro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Court Records Online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The criminal complaint contains allegations and does not establish guilt.<\/p>\n<p>Ostlund is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Adrian Cole reporting for <a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\">TRF News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Copyright 2026 TRF News.
