{"id":44328,"date":"2026-08-21T14:48:27","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T19:48:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=44328"},"modified":"2026-08-16T10:19:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-16T15:19:10","slug":"moorhead-37500-trailer-theft-leads-to-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/moorhead-37500-trailer-theft-leads-to-charges\/","title":{"rendered":"Moorhead $37,500 Trailer Theft Leads to Charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Moorhead $37,500 Trailer Theft Leads to Charges<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Moorhead<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\">trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Staples man faces four felonies after a trailer and Honor Flight merchandise were allegedly stolen.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Joseph Andert was charged in Clay County District Court after the August 3, 2026 incident.<\/p>\n<p>The criminal complaint says the white enclosed trailer belonged to the American Legion in Moorhead.<\/p>\n<p>It contained about 60 to 70 storage totes holding merchandise for Honor Flight North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>The items included T-shirts, tumblers, folding tables, carts, and other materials.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors estimated the merchandise was worth about $30,000.<\/p>\n<p>The trailer was initially valued at about $7,500.<\/p>\n<h2>Trailer Taken Before Dawn<\/h2>\n<p>According to the complaint, surveillance video captured activity near the trailer around 2:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The video allegedly showed a red Chevrolet pickup pulling alongside the trailer.<\/p>\n<p>A person was seen leaving the pickup before the truck later drove away with the trailer attached.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators later linked the pickup to Andert, according to the court filing.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities then obtained a search warrant for Andert&#8217;s vehicle and property in Staples.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center; margin: 25px auto;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"display: block; max-width: 500px; width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 0 auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ANDERT-ROBERT-JOSEPH.jpg\" alt=\"Robert Joseph Andert mugshot\" \/><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\">Robert Joseph Andert<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Search Finds Burned Merchandise<\/h2>\n<p>The warrant was executed on August 7, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators reported finding a burn pile containing evidence from merchandise belonging to Honor Flight North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says Andert&#8217;s wife reported seeing him with a white trailer earlier that week.<\/p>\n<p>She said he claimed he had purchased the trailer online.<\/p>\n<p>Court records say investigators later contacted Andert about the trailer.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint alleges Andert admitted having the trailer and agreed to return it the next day.<\/p>\n<p>It also alleges he admitted burning merchandise that had been inside the trailer.<\/p>\n<h2>Four Felony Counts Filed<\/h2>\n<p>Andert faces three felony theft counts and one felony property-damage count.<\/p>\n<p>The most serious theft count involves property prosecutors say was worth more than $35,000.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint lists a maximum sentence of 20 years and a possible $100,000 fine for that count.<\/p>\n<p>Two additional theft counts each list maximum sentences of 10 years and possible $20,000 fines.<\/p>\n<p>The property-damage count lists up to five years imprisonment and a possible $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>Readers can review <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.52\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota&#8217;s theft statute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The state&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.595\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">property-damage statute<\/a> is also available through the Minnesota Revisor.<\/p>\n<p>The case is filed in Clay County District Court under court file number 14-CR-26-2829.<\/p>\n<p>The charges are allegations and do not establish guilt.<\/p>\n<p>Andert is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Adrian Cole reporting for <a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\">TRF News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Copyright 2026 TRF News.
