Karlstad Check Case Brings Felony Charge<\/h2>\n

Karlstad<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Chanhassen man faces a felony charge involving two allegedly dishonored checks written to a Karlstad business.<\/p>\n

Damon Roy Anderson, 50, is charged with felony issuance of a dishonored check.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say the two checks totaled $548.80.<\/p>\n

The alleged transactions occurred on September 27, 2025, in Kittson County.<\/p>\n

Two Checks Allegedly Returned Unpaid<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, both checks were made payable to Karlstad Korner.<\/p>\n

One check was written for $410.<\/p>\n

The second check was written for $138.80.<\/p>\n

Both were drawn on a Discover Money Market account, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

The business later received both checks back marked for insufficient funds.<\/p>\n

The checks were then turned over to the Kittson County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Anderson intended for the checks not to be paid when they were issued.<\/p>\n

Payment Notice Returned<\/h2>\n

The sheriff’s office sent Anderson a notice demanding payment on February 2, 2026.<\/p>\n

The notice was mailed to the address listed on the checks.<\/p>\n

However, the U.S. Postal Service returned the letter on February 11.<\/p>\n

The returned notice stated there was no such number and the letter could not be forwarded.<\/p>\n

The complaint also lists two $30 worthless-check fees.<\/p>\n

Those fees raise the amount claimed due to $608.80.<\/p>\n

Felony Charge Filed In Kittson County<\/h2>\n

The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000.<\/p>\n

The complaint was filed with a warrant in Kittson County District Court.<\/p>\n

The case is filed as court file 35-CR-26-23.<\/p>\n
