Roseau Man Faces 5 Charges After Foot Chase<\/h2>\n

Roseau<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Roseau man faces five charges following an early-morning foot chase and arrest.<\/p>\n

Shon Junior Platt, 20, is charged in Roseau County District Court.<\/p>\n

The charges include three gross misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree assault involving peace officers.<\/p>\n

Platt also faces gross misdemeanor obstruction and misdemeanor fleeing on foot.<\/p>\n

The incident happened around 4:46 a.m. on July 27, 2026.<\/p>\n

Police Learn Of Active Warrant<\/h2>\n

Law enforcement spotted Platt riding in the front passenger seat of a Chevrolet pickup, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Officers confirmed that Platt had an active arrest warrant from Polk County.<\/p>\n

The pickup eventually entered a business area in Roseau and stopped.<\/p>\n

A Minnesota State Patrol trooper activated emergency lights behind the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Platt immediately exited the passenger side and began walking away, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

The trooper told Platt that he was under arrest.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Platt then began running between two nearby tire businesses.<\/p>\n

Complaint Describes Struggle With Officers<\/h2>\n

The trooper caught Platt by his shirt during the foot pursuit.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Platt continued resisting and refused commands to place his hands behind his back.<\/p>\n

Other officers arrived and helped gain control of him.<\/p>\n

Investigators say Platt continued kicking his legs during the struggle.<\/p>\n

After being detained, Platt allegedly kicked the front bumper of a patrol vehicle.<\/p>\n

Three officers reported minor injuries following the encounter.<\/p>\n

One suffered a small hand abrasion with bruising.<\/p>\n

Another officer suffered an abrasion to an elbow.<\/p>\n

A third officer reported small scratches to a wrist.<\/p>\n

Five Charges Filed In Roseau County<\/h2>\n

Platt was transported to the Roseau County Detention Center after his arrest.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he initially refused to exit the squad vehicle at the jail.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors filed three counts of fourth-degree assault against a peace officer.<\/p>\n

Each assault count carries up to 364 days in jail and a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The obstruction charge carries the same maximum penalties.<\/p>\n

The fleeing charge carries up to 90 days in jail and a possible $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n
