Crookston Woman Faces Felony Drug, DWI Charges<\/h2>\n

Crookston<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Crookston woman faces felony drug possession and gross misdemeanor DWI charges.<\/p>\n

Megan Marie Swatlowski, 35, is charged in Polk County District Court.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from an April 28, 2026, investigation in Crookston.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors also gave notice that they may seek an aggravated sentence if Swatlowski is convicted.<\/p>\n

Police Follow Van Through Crookston<\/h2>\n

Police first saw Swatlowski driving a silver Dodge Caravan into the Happy Joe’s parking lot around 1:45 p.m.<\/p>\n

An officer later reported seeing Swatlowski slumped over in the driver’s seat for about 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

She then drove through several Crookston streets before stopping near her Summit Avenue residence.<\/p>\n

The complaint says her route passed within 300 feet of Locken Park and Central Park.<\/p>\n

Police reported seeing Swatlowski slumped over again after she parked the van.<\/p>\n

An officer then approached her after she exited the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The complaint describes rapid movements, slurred speech, dilated pupils, and rapid talking.<\/p>\n

Swatlowski later acknowledged using methamphetamine four days earlier in Grand Forks, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Scale With Crystal Residue Found<\/h2>\n

Swatlowski agreed to perform field sobriety tests and consented to a search of the van.<\/p>\n

Police reported finding a scale containing white crystal residue inside one of her bags.<\/p>\n

Swatlowski allegedly said the scale belonged to her boyfriend.<\/p>\n

She told investigators that she believed it was used for marijuana, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Swatlowski later provided a urine sample at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n

An on-site test was positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, oxycodone, and THC, prosecutors say.<\/p>\n

Swatlowski said she had a Suboxone prescription and discussed her recent methamphetamine use with investigators.<\/p>\n

Two Charges And Sentencing Notice<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Swatlowski with third-degree controlled substance possession in a prohibited zone.<\/p>\n

That felony carries up to 20 years in prison and a possible $250,000 fine.<\/p>\n

She also faces third-degree DWI involving a Schedule I or II controlled substance.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists a maximum of 354 days in jail and a $3,000 fine for that charge.<\/p>\n

A 2017 controlled-substance DWI conviction is cited as the aggravating factor.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors also cite Swatlowski’s prior felony drug convictions in their aggravated sentencing notice.<\/p>\n

The case is filed as Polk County court file 60-CR-26-674.<\/p>\n
