Moorhead Stop Leads to Stolen Vehicle Felony Charge<\/h2>\n

Moorhead<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Fargo man faces a felony after police stopped a vehicle reported stolen in Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Levi Ray Colton Miller, 25, is charged with receiving stolen property in Clay County District Court.<\/p>\n

The charge involves a motor vehicle that authorities say had been reported stolen from Wright County.<\/p>\n

The alleged offense happened on July 29, 2026, in Moorhead.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Begins Investigation<\/h2>\n

A Moorhead police officer was on routine patrol when a vehicle with dealer plates drew attention.<\/p>\n

The vehicle had no visible registration, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

The officer tried to position the patrol vehicle behind it.<\/p>\n

The vehicle then entered a business parking lot and quickly changed direction.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the movements appeared evasive to the officer.<\/p>\n

Police eventually stopped the vehicle on Maine Avenue in Moorhead.<\/p>\n

Miller was identified as the driver.<\/p>\n

Vehicle Reported Stolen<\/h2>\n

The officer checked the vehicle identification number during the stop.<\/p>\n

The VIN returned as a vehicle reported stolen from Wright County, prosecutors allege.<\/p>\n

The vehicle’s regular license plates were found inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Miller gave the officer paperwork that he said showed he had purchased the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the title had not been completed.<\/p>\n

Police also reviewed a document Miller described as a bill of sale.<\/p>\n

Investigators said that document did not appear authentic.<\/p>\n

Miller Says He Paid $400<\/h2>\n

Miller told police he purchased the vehicle from a man in Clearwater.<\/p>\n

He said he first got the vehicle running and then paid $400 for it.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Miller possessed the vehicle while knowing, or having reason to know, it was stolen.<\/p>\n

The complaint does not allege that Miller personally stole the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Felony Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Miller faces one felony count of receiving stolen property.<\/p>\n

The charge carries up to five years in prison and a possible $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The case is filed as Clay County court file 14-CR-26-2707.<\/p>\n
