Vergas Man Faces 4 Charges After Home Disturbance<\/h2>\n

Vergas<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Vergas man faces four charges after an alleged domestic disturbance in Otter Tail County.<\/p>\n

Tyler Douglas Riewer, 33, is charged with two counts of first-degree burglary.<\/p>\n

He also faces domestic assault and fourth-degree property damage charges.<\/p>\n

The allegations stem from an incident reported on July 29, 2026.<\/p>\n

Residents Report Attempted Entry<\/h2>\n

Deputies responded around 7:53 p.m. to a reported domestic disturbance, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

Two relatives told investigators that Riewer arrived at an Otter Tail County residence.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges Riewer screamed and tried entering through sliding glass doors.<\/p>\n

One resident became afraid and contacted another relative for help.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Riewer ripped a screen door from its hinges while trying to enter.<\/p>\n

He later entered through a side door, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The resident repeatedly told Riewer to leave, but he allegedly remained inside.<\/p>\n

Complaint Alleges Assault Outside Home<\/h2>\n

Another relative arrived at the property while Riewer was still there.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges Riewer went outside and confronted that person.<\/p>\n

Riewer allegedly removed his shirt and appeared ready to fight.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say he then hit and kicked the relative outside the residence.<\/p>\n

The relative reportedly tried to calm Riewer while the other resident left the property.<\/p>\n

Riewer then allegedly drove through the yard before leaving.<\/p>\n

Deputies later observed tire tracks across the yard, according to court records.<\/p>\n

They also reported seeing a damaged screen door with a bent metal frame.<\/p>\n

Riewer Denies Several Allegations<\/h2>\n

Deputies later contacted Riewer at his residence.<\/p>\n

Riewer acknowledged visiting the other residence but said nothing happened there.<\/p>\n

He denied ripping the screen door from its hinges.<\/p>\n

Riewer said he entered through a door where a key had been left.<\/p>\n

When asked about permission to enter, Riewer said he had not asked.<\/p>\n

He also denied screaming at the resident, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Riewer was arrested and taken to the Otter Tail County Detention Facility.<\/p>\n

During transport, he reportedly said the screen door was the only damaged property.<\/p>\n

Four Charges Filed<\/h2>\n

Riewer faces two felony counts of first-degree burglary.<\/p>\n

Each burglary charge carries up to 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The domestic assault count is a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

The complaint cites a previous domestic assault conviction from July 31, 2024.<\/p>\n

Riewer also faces one misdemeanor count of fourth-degree property damage.<\/p>\n
