Bemidji Man Charged With 2 Felonies After Shooting<\/h2>\n

Bemidji<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Bemidji man faces two felony charges following a July shooting investigation.<\/p>\n

Terrance Lee Jones Jr., 20, is charged in Beltrami County District Court.<\/p>\n

He faces second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and unlawful firearm possession.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from a July 19, 2026, shooting near Kestrel Pines in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

Wounded Man Found At Hotel<\/h2>\n

Police responded around 10:39 p.m. after a wounded man entered a Bemidji hotel.<\/p>\n

Officers found Vincent Parkhurst with a gunshot wound near his left shoulder.<\/p>\n

A witness was applying pressure to the wound when police arrived.<\/p>\n

Parkhurst told police he heard three shots while walking near Kestrel Pines.<\/p>\n

He said he did not see who fired the shots.<\/p>\n

Parkhurst was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

Police later found three spent shell casings near Kestrel Pines.<\/p>\n

Jones Claims He Returned Fire<\/h2>\n

Police later detained Jones, who lived in a nearby apartment.<\/p>\n

Jones gave investigators a statement after receiving a Miranda warning.<\/p>\n

Jones said he returned home with his girlfriend and child after buying groceries.<\/p>\n

He reported seeing three men wearing black clothing and face coverings approach his home.<\/p>\n

Jones identified them as Vincent Parkhurst, Antonio Parkhurst, and Demarquez Lussier.<\/p>\n

Jones claimed one man displayed an AK-style pistol and fired first.<\/p>\n

Jones said he then fired one or two shots because he feared for his family.<\/p>\n

He told investigators he later gave his handgun to Tyrone Richardson.<\/p>\n

No firearm was recovered during a search of Jones’ apartment, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Revolver Recovered From Hotel Roof<\/h2>\n

Hotel surveillance later showed Vincent Parkhurst running near the building, prosecutors allege.<\/p>\n

The complaint says video appeared to show Parkhurst throwing an object onto the hotel roof.<\/p>\n

Police later recovered a .22-caliber revolver from that roof.<\/p>\n

Investigators reported finding four spent rounds and five unfired rounds inside the revolver.<\/p>\n

Two Felony Charges Filed<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors allege Jones was legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.<\/p>\n

The complaint cites a 2025 attempted second-degree assault case involving a firearm.<\/p>\n

Jones faces up to 15 years for the firearm possession charge.<\/p>\n

The complaint also lists a mandatory minimum sentence of five years.<\/p>\n

Second-degree assault carries up to seven years and a possible $14,000 fine.<\/p>\n
