Moorhead Man Charged in Lost Debit Card Fraud Case<\/h2>\n

Moorhead<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Moorhead man faces a gross misdemeanor charge involving a lost debit card.<\/p>\n

Savoy Weldon Abraham, 40, is charged with financial transaction card fraud in Clay County District Court.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Abraham used or attempted to use the card without the owner’s permission.<\/p>\n

The alleged transactions happened between July 25 and July 26, 2026.<\/p>\n

Wallet Reported Lost In Dilworth<\/h2>\n

The investigation began after a person reported losing a wallet at Walmart in Dilworth.<\/p>\n

The wallet contained a debit card and driver’s license, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

The owner later discovered several transactions that were not authorized.<\/p>\n

Two charges were made at a Circle K in Moorhead, court records allege.<\/p>\n

Those transactions totaled $3.98 and $13.78.<\/p>\n

Another $5.51 transaction allegedly occurred at Fryn’ Pan in Moorhead.<\/p>\n

The cardholder told police that none of those purchases were authorized.<\/p>\n

The cardholder then disabled the debit card to prevent further use.<\/p>\n

More Purchases Allegedly Attempted<\/h2>\n

The complaint says someone tried using the card again on July 26.<\/p>\n

One attempted $2.16 purchase happened at the Dilworth Walmart.<\/p>\n

Other attempted transactions reportedly occurred at Starbucks and Target locations in Moorhead.<\/p>\n

Those later transactions were unsuccessful because the card had been disabled, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Video And Facial Recognition Reviewed<\/h2>\n

Police obtained Walmart surveillance video while investigating the reported fraud.<\/p>\n

An investigator took a still image of the person shown during an alleged transaction.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the image was searched using Clearview AI facial recognition software.<\/p>\n

The software returned Abraham as a person of interest, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Investigators then compared the surveillance images with existing booking photographs of Abraham.<\/p>\n

The complaint says officers observed similar facial features and body build.<\/p>\n

Investigators also reported seeing a tattoo that appeared to match Abraham.<\/p>\n

Gross Misdemeanor Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Abraham faces one count of financial transaction card fraud involving use without consent.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the value involved was no more than $250.<\/p>\n

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible fine of up to $3,000.<\/p>\n
