Mahnomen Door Damage Case Leads to Felony Charge<\/h2>\n

Mahnomen<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 John Alan Gordon faces a felony property damage charge in Mahnomen County.<\/p>\n

The charge follows damage reported at the Wild Rice Lounge on May 23, 2026.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Gordon intentionally damaged the business’s front glass door without permission.<\/p>\n

Employee Finds Damaged Door<\/h2>\n

A man then exited the vehicle and walked toward the lounge’s front door.<\/p>\n

The man tried to open the door, but it was locked.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, he then turned around and kicked the glass door three times.<\/p>\n

The man walked away after kicking the door, court records state.<\/p>\n

Investigators Identify Suspect<\/h2>\n

Police continued investigating the incident the following day.<\/p>\n

The employee told investigators that employees believed the person shown was John Alan Gordon.<\/p>\n

Investigators shared an image from the surveillance footage with other local law enforcement personnel.<\/p>\n

Three law enforcement members identified Gordon as the person shown, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Investigators also compared the surveillance image with a Facebook photograph of Gordon.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the photograph appeared to match the person captured by the surveillance system.<\/p>\n

Those identifications form part of the probable cause supporting the charge.<\/p>\n

Felony Property Damage Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Gordon is charged with first-degree criminal damage to property.<\/p>\n

Minnesota Statute 609.595<\/a> covers intentional damage to another person’s property.<\/p>\n

First-degree charges can apply when repair and replacement costs exceed $1,000.<\/p>\n

The felony carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000.<\/p>\n
