Moorhead Armed Robbery Case Brings 2 Felony Charges<\/h2>\n

Moorhead<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Isaiah Exadrian Lee Rodriguez faces two felony charges after an alleged armed robbery and assault in Clay County.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from an incident reported during the early morning of July 19, 2026.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors charged Rodriguez with first-degree aggravated robbery and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n

The allegations are detailed in Clay County District Court file 14-CR-26-2614.<\/p>\n

Victim Found With Facial Injuries<\/h2>\n

Clay County deputies responded to a rural Moorhead residence shortly after 2 a.m.<\/p>\n

They found an injured male identified in court records as S.J.<\/p>\n

The complaint says S.J. had fresh facial injuries and was bleeding from his mouth.<\/p>\n

He told investigators that a group had assaulted him and taken his cell phone.<\/p>\n

S.J. said he joined the group because he expected to travel outside town for fireworks.<\/p>\n

He alleged that someone displayed a handgun while the group traveled in a vehicle.<\/p>\n

His mother later took him to a hospital for evaluation.<\/p>\n

She later told authorities that doctors found no concussion or internal bleeding.<\/p>\n

Gun Allegedly Used During Assault<\/h2>\n

S.J. later gave investigators more details about the alleged attack.<\/p>\n

He said the group met at Romkey Park before driving toward a rural area south of Moorhead.<\/p>\n

S.J. alleged Rodriguez produced a Glock pistol and threatened him with it.<\/p>\n

He also alleged the group forced him from the vehicle and attacked him.<\/p>\n

S.J. said he escaped into a field and heard at least two gunshots while running.<\/p>\n

He eventually reached a nearby residence and asked for help.<\/p>\n

His cellphone was later found near Interstate 29, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Video Mentioned During Investigation<\/h2>\n

Investigators later learned about a Snapchat video allegedly connected to the incident.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the video showed Rodriguez with the victim during the encounter.<\/p>\n

Police located Rodriguez on July 23 near Gooseberry Park in Moorhead.<\/p>\n

He was detained and later interviewed at the Clay County Jail.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Rodriguez admitted pointing the pistol toward S.J.<\/p>\n

He allegedly said he moved the gun aside and fired a shot past the victim.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez also allegedly admitted punching S.J. and leaving him in the field.<\/p>\n

He told investigators the group had S.J.’s phone when they left.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez also said a video of the assault should be on his phone.<\/p>\n

Two Felony Charges Filed<\/h2>\n

Count One charges Rodriguez with first-degree aggravated robbery.<\/p>\n

Minnesota Statute 609.245<\/a> covers robbery involving a dangerous weapon or bodily harm.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists a 25-year maximum sentence for that count.<\/p>\n

However, Minnesota’s current published statute lists a maximum of 20 years and a $35,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Count Two charges Rodriguez with second-degree assault using a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n

Minnesota Statute 609.222<\/a> lists up to seven years in prison and a $14,000 fine.<\/p>\n
