Thief River Falls Man Accused of Blocking Emergency Call<\/h2>\n

Thief River Falls<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Michael Jon Loiland faces two charges following a June incident in Pennington County.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors charged Loiland with interfering with an emergency call and trespassing.<\/p>\n

The allegations are detailed in a criminal complaint filed in Pennington County District Court.<\/p>\n

Woman Says Loiland Was Told to Leave<\/h2>\n

Law enforcement responded to a Pennington County residence on June 18, 2026.<\/p>\n

A woman identified as C.G. told police Loiland had been staying at her home.<\/p>\n

She said Loiland appeared intoxicated when she returned home that day.<\/p>\n

C.G. told investigators she informed Loiland that he was no longer welcome inside.<\/p>\n

Loiland initially left the residence, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

He later returned and asked for a bottle he had left behind.<\/p>\n

C.G. recorded part of the encounter on video, court records state.<\/p>\n

The video allegedly shows C.G. telling Loiland he was not welcome inside.<\/p>\n

She also told him that she would bring his belongings outside.<\/p>\n

Complaint Says Phone Was Taken<\/h2>\n

Investigators said Loiland removed an air-conditioning unit that belonged to him.<\/p>\n

He then allegedly entered the residence through the opening.<\/p>\n

C.G. told Loiland she planned to call police, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The video then shows Loiland approaching her before a struggle apparently begins.<\/p>\n

C.G. told investigators Loiland grabbed her wrist and took her phone.<\/p>\n

She later recovered the phone.<\/p>\n

C.G. told police that she and Loiland had previously dated.<\/p>\n

Two Charges Filed<\/h2>\n

Count One charges Loiland with interfering with an emergency telephone call.<\/p>\n

Minnesota Statute 609.78<\/a> makes intentional interference with an emergency call a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Count Two charges Loiland with misdemeanor trespass.<\/p>\n

Minnesota Statute 609.605<\/a> prohibits entering another person’s dwelling without consent or legal right.<\/p>\n

The misdemeanor carries up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The case is filed as 57-CR-26-454.<\/p>\n

The charges are allegations and do not establish guilt.<\/p>\n
