Sabrina Nygaard Charged in Red Lake Falls Burglary<\/h2>\n

Red Lake Falls<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Sabrina Kate Lynn Nygaard faces a first-degree burglary charge in Red Lake County.<\/p>\n

The charge follows an incident reported on July 12, 2026.<\/p>\n

Homeowner Reports Garage Entry<\/h2>\n

According to a criminal complaint, Keith Simmons called the Red Lake County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

He reported hearing loud noises inside his attached garage.<\/p>\n

Simmons told authorities the sounds woke him during the night.<\/p>\n

He went to investigate and found an unknown woman inside, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the woman was moving and throwing belongings around the garage.<\/p>\n

Simmons confronted her and said she then entered the back seat of his vehicle.<\/p>\n

He told authorities the woman went to sleep inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

A responding deputy entered the garage and saw personal items scattered across the floor.<\/p>\n

The deputy identified the woman as Sabrina Kate Lynn Nygaard, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Medical Evaluation Before Booking<\/h2>\n

Authorities said Nygaard appeared heavily intoxicated and needed help walking.<\/p>\n

The deputy placed Nygaard in handcuffs and helped her reach a squad vehicle.<\/p>\n

Court records say the deputy later noticed bruising and swelling on Nygaard\u2019s face.<\/p>\n

Nygaard told authorities she had fallen, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

She gave the same explanation when asked again about her injuries.<\/p>\n

Nygaard was first taken to Tri-County Corrections for booking.<\/p>\n

Correctional staff requested medical clearance before admitting her to the jail.<\/p>\n

Authorities then took Nygaard to a hospital for evaluation.<\/p>\n

Medical staff also noticed bruising on both arms, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

Nygaard again said she had fallen.<\/p>\n

The hospital completed a medical examination, including imaging and blood testing.<\/p>\n

A physician later cleared Nygaard for incarceration.<\/p>\n

She was then returned to Tri-County Corrections.<\/p>\n

First-Degree Burglary Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Nygaard with first-degree burglary involving an occupied dwelling.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges another person was present when the unlawful entry occurred.<\/p>\n

Minnesota law allows up to 20 years in prison for first-degree burglary.<\/p>\n

The law also allows a fine of up to $35,000.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists a six-month mandatory minimum for the occupied-dwelling provision.<\/p>\n
