Sturgis Rally: Four Hurt in Three Motorcycle Crashes<\/h2>\n

STURGIS, S.D.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Four motorcyclists were hurt in three crashes between Wednesday and Thursday mornings.<\/p>\n

The crashes happened during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in western South Dakota.<\/p>\n

The South Dakota Highway Patrol<\/a> reported the crashes in its daily Rally Tally.<\/p>\n

The report covers incidents investigated by state troopers during the rally period.<\/p>\n

It does not include cases handled by local police or county sheriff’s offices.<\/p>\n

The latest report covered 6 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, through 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.<\/p>\n

Two Riders Hurt in Custer State Park<\/h2>\n

At about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, two Harley-Davidson motorcycles approached a sharp curve on Wildlife Loop Road.<\/p>\n

The crash happened near the Prairie Trail pulloff in Custer State Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Troopers said a 2019 Harley was near the center of the road.<\/p>\n

The 2004 Harley rider moved into the opposite lane to avoid a collision.<\/p>\n

The other rider then swerved back toward his lane, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Both motorcycles overturned.<\/p>\n

A 71-year-old man and a 69-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Both were taken to a Custer hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

Rainy Conditions Reported Near Piedmont<\/h2>\n

Another crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 90 near Piedmont.<\/p>\n

A 1993 Harley-Davidson was traveling east between the two Piedmont exits.<\/p>\n

Troopers said the rider lost control during rainy conditions and entered the median.<\/p>\n

The 58-year-old rider was taken to a Rapid City hospital with minor injuries.<\/p>\n

Rider Hurt East of Custer<\/h2>\n

A third crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday east of Custer.<\/p>\n

A 2015 Harley-Davidson was traveling east on U.S. 16A near the Needles Highway turnoff.<\/p>\n

Troopers said the rider lost control while traveling through a left curve.<\/p>\n

The 62-year-old rider was wearing a helmet and suffered minor injuries.<\/p>\n

He declined medical treatment and rode the motorcycle from the scene.<\/p>\n

Rally Safety Information<\/h2>\n

The rally brings heavy motorcycle traffic throughout the Black Hills each year.<\/p>\n

Riders can find state road information through South Dakota 511<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Visitors can also review Custer State Park safety information online.<\/p>\n

No rider names were included in the Highway Patrol report.<\/p>\n

No fatal injuries were reported in these three crashes.<\/p>\n
