McLaughlin Man Listed on Registry, Now in Custody<\/h2>\n

MCLAUGHLIN, S.D.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Patrick Donovan Red Legs remains listed on South Dakota’s public sex offender registry.<\/p>\n

The current registry says Red Legs is incarcerated in U.S. Marshal custody.<\/p>\n

His public profile was updated on August 4, 2026.<\/p>\n

The registry lists a federal conviction for abusive sexual contact of a minor.<\/p>\n

TRF News is not publishing any former street address connected to Red Legs.<\/p>\n

2015 Federal Conviction<\/h2>\n

Federal prosecutors announced Red Legs’ sentence in November 2015.<\/p>\n

He received 24 months in federal custody.<\/p>\n

He also received 10 years of supervised release.<\/p>\n

Red Legs pleaded guilty on November 3, 2014.<\/p>\n

The underlying incident was reported in Little Eagle during June 2014.<\/p>\n

The Justice Department<\/a> described the victim as a 13-year-old girl.<\/p>\n

The current registry describes the victim as 14 years old.<\/p>\n

Later Failure-to-Register Case<\/h2>\n

Red Legs later faced additional federal registration cases.<\/p>\n

His latest published federal sentence was imposed June 30, 2025.<\/p>\n

A judge sentenced him to one year and 11 months in prison.<\/p>\n

The sentence also included five years of supervised release.<\/p>\n

Federal prosecutors called it his third failure-to-register conviction.<\/p>\n

They said Red Legs registered a McLaughlin address after his June 2024 release.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said he later moved to Little Eagle without updating his registration.<\/p>\n

He pleaded guilty to the charge on May 15, 2025.<\/p>\n
