Minneapolis Crash Kills 18-Year-Old on I-94<\/h2>\n

Minneapolis (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 An 18-year-old Eden Prairie man died Sunday after a crash on Interstate 94.<\/p>\n

The crash happened on southbound I-94 near Olson Memorial Highway in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota State Patrol<\/a> said the man was driving a 2005 Ford Focus.<\/p>\n

The Ford was approaching Olson Memorial Highway before the first impact.<\/p>\n

The car struck an attenuator near the point where the interstate and Lyndale Avenue exit lanes separate.<\/p>\n

An attenuator is a safety device designed to reduce the force of a vehicle crash.<\/p>\n

Driver Hit After Leaving Vehicle<\/h2>\n

After the first collision, the 18-year-old got out of the Ford Focus.<\/p>\n

A southbound 2021 Tesla Model 3 then struck him near the crash area.<\/p>\n

The Eden Prairie man suffered fatal injuries after being hit by the passing vehicle.<\/p>\n

The State Patrol said he was not wearing a seat belt during the initial crash.<\/p>\n

The victim’s name was not released in the initial incident report.<\/p>\n

No Injuries Reported In Tesla<\/h2>\n

The Tesla driver was a 21-year-old man from Champlin.<\/p>\n

A 22-year-old woman from Coon Rapids was riding as a passenger.<\/p>\n

Neither person in the Tesla reported injuries after the collision.<\/p>\n

Both occupants were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.<\/p>\n

Investigators said alcohol was not suspected for any drivers involved.<\/p>\n

The road surface was dry when the crashes occurred.<\/p>\n

Emergency Crews Respond<\/h2>\n

Minneapolis Fire and Minneapolis EMS were among the agencies sent to the interstate.<\/p>\n

Hennepin Healthcare<\/a> also responded to assist at the crash scene.<\/p>\n

Cardinal Towing helped with the vehicle response and cleanup.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota State Patrol’s West Metro district reported the fatal crash.<\/p>\n

The agency continues to investigate what caused the first collision.<\/p>\n

Officials have not released more details about why the Ford struck the attenuator.<\/p>\n

The investigation may include vehicle evidence, roadway information, and witness statements.<\/p>\n

No criminal charges were announced in the initial incident report.<\/p>\n
