Belcourt Head-On Crash Kills 3 in Rolette County<\/h2>\n

Rolette County (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Three people died, and one person was injured in a head-on crash early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. on BIA 7. A Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa spokesperson confirmed the details.<\/p>\n

Officials said a southbound SUV crossed the center line. It then struck a northbound pickup truck.<\/p>\n

Three People Killed<\/h2>\n

The SUV driver was a woman from Belcourt. She died in the crash.<\/p>\n

Two passengers inside the pickup also died. They were a Belcourt woman and a man from Devils Lake.<\/p>\n

The pickup driver was a Belcourt woman. She was flown by medical helicopter to Minot for treatment.<\/p>\n

Officials did not release her condition.<\/p>\n

Bureau of Indian Affairs Law Enforcement<\/a> is leading the investigation.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Highway Patrol<\/a> also assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n

Indian Health Service<\/a> personnel also helped with the emergency response.<\/p>\n

Community Mourns Victims<\/h2>\n

Turtle Mountain Tribal Chairman Jamie Azure addressed the deaths in a public statement after the crash.<\/p>\n

Azure said the loss affected families, friends, classmates, coworkers, and others throughout the community.<\/p>\n

He offered condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died.<\/p>\n

Azure also asked residents to check on relatives and friends struggling with the loss.<\/p>\n

He encouraged community members to listen and provide support during the difficult days ahead.<\/p>\n

Azure described the deaths as a painful loss of young lives. He said they still had much life ahead.<\/p>\n

He said grieving does not make a community weak. Instead, he urged residents to support one another.<\/p>\n

Azure extended condolences on behalf of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians.<\/p>\n

Crash Remains Under Investigation<\/h2>\n

Officials have not announced additional details about what caused the SUV to cross the center line.<\/p>\n

The investigation remains with Bureau of Indian Affairs Law Enforcement.<\/p>\n

Additional information could be released as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
