Lyman Ray Weaver, 44, was charged Monday in Mahnomen County District Court.<\/p>\n
The charges include second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and felony threats of violence.<\/p>\n
He also faces three felony animal torture counts and felony failure to appear.<\/p>\n
Threats Reported Inside Home<\/h2>\n
A criminal complaint filed August 3 describes the incident reported one day earlier.<\/p>\n
A Mahnomen County sheriff’s deputy responded to a Naytahwaush home after a disturbance was reported.<\/p>\n
The woman told authorities Weaver arrived at the home that morning while intoxicated.<\/p>\n
She said Weaver had an active warrant and was not supposed to be there.<\/p>\n
The complaint states Weaver asked the woman to drive him to get more alcohol.<\/p>\n
She refused the request.<\/p>\n
Authorities allege Weaver then threatened to stab her.<\/p>\n
The woman said Weaver pushed her outside and locked the door behind her.<\/p>\n
She also reported Weaver threatened to kill her animals.<\/p>\n
The woman told authorities she could hear animals in distress from outside the home.<\/p>\n
She later found a kitten dead in the yard, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n
She then entered the home and reported seeing Weaver stabbing one of her dogs.<\/p>\n Authorities said they found a dead kitten outside the residence.<\/p>\n Inside, they found a black dog with stab wounds that was still alive.<\/p>\n A brown and white pit bull also appeared to have died from several stab wounds.<\/p>\n The injured black dog was later euthanized at the woman’s request.<\/p>\n Authorities also reported finding large amounts of blood inside the residence.<\/p>\n Weaver was later located in a camper on his mother’s property in Waubun.<\/p>\n Authorities said he initially refused to leave the camper.<\/p>\n He was eventually taken into custody.<\/p>\n The complaint says Weaver had an active warrant when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n That warrant involved felony domestic assault and third-degree assault allegations.<\/p>\n It followed his failure to appear for a July 14 hearing, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n The complaint also lists several prior felony convictions.<\/p>\n Those convictions include second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and felony domestic assault.<\/p>\n Other listed convictions include escape and introducing contraband into a correctional facility.<\/p>\n Charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.<\/p>\n Weaver is presumed innocent unless proven guilty through the court process.<\/p>\n More court information is available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch<\/a>.<\/p>\n Additional county information is available from Mahnomen County<\/a>.<\/p>\n![\"Lyman](\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Lyman-Ray-Weaver.png\")
