East Grand Forks: Gist Faces Felony Sex Charge<\/h2>\n

East Grand Forks<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Grand Forks man faces a felony charge after an alleged incident at River Heights Park.<\/p>\n

A Polk County District Court complaint charges D\u2019Amore Alfonzo Jon Gist with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.<\/p>\n

Gist was 23 years old at the time of the alleged offense.<\/p>\n

The charge involves a girl who was 15, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The alleged incident occurred on November 23, 2025.<\/p>\n

Park Report Led To Investigation<\/h2>\n

Police were sent to River Heights Park shortly after 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

A caller reported two people engaged in sexual activity inside a parked vehicle.<\/p>\n

Officers found Gist and the girl in the back seat, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

Investigators then questioned both people about what allegedly happened.<\/p>\n

The girl first gave information suggesting she was older.<\/p>\n

Police later confirmed she was 15, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Gist allegedly admitted having sexual contact with the girl.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly told investigators they had met for sexual activity before.<\/p>\n

The girl told investigators she had known Gist for several months.<\/p>\n

She said they met through mutual friends.<\/p>\n

She also described two earlier alleged encounters in Grand Forks, North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Those claims were included in the Minnesota criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

Felony Charge Carries Possible Prison Term<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors allege Gist engaged in sexual penetration with someone between 14 and 15 years old.<\/p>\n

They also allege he was more than 24 months older.<\/p>\n

The complaint cites Minnesota Statute 609.344<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $30,000 fine, or both penalties.<\/p>\n
