Dilworth<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Fargo man faces four charges after a reported theft at a Dilworth Walmart.<\/p>\n

Devin Joseph Bangs is charged in Clay County District Court. The charges include two felony drug counts.<\/p>\n

He also faces misdemeanor counts for fleeing on foot and theft. The case is filed as 14-CR-26-2526.<\/p>\n

Five-Hour Store Visit Draws Attention<\/h2>\n

The incident happened at about 10:13 p.m. on July 16, 2026. Walmart staff reported Bangs had been inside for about five hours.<\/p>\n

Staff said he acted suspiciously and used a self-checkout lane. The complaint says he under-scanned several items.<\/p>\n

Employees removed some goods from the transaction. However, other unpaid items allegedly remained inside his bag.<\/p>\n

Bangs then left through the grocery entrance, according to prosecutors. The unpaid merchandise was valued at about $252.08.<\/p>\n

Complaint Alleges Foot Chase<\/h2>\n

An officer met Bangs near the store entrance and requested his receipt. Bangs first began handing over the receipt.<\/p>\n

He then told the officer to leave him alone, the complaint states. Prosecutors say Bangs ran outside and left his cart behind.<\/p>\n

The officer followed him through the parking lot and ordered him to stop. Bangs allegedly continued running toward a nearby Dollar Tree.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the officer briefly caught up with Bangs. Bangs allegedly grabbed part of the officer’s vest during the encounter.<\/p>\n

He then ran again before a Taser was used. Police detained him in a grassy area near the neighboring store.<\/p>\n

Drugs Allegedly Found in Bags<\/h2>\n

Police searched bags carried by Bangs and bags left near the entrance. They allegedly found a glass pipe with white residue.<\/p>\n

A field test indicated the residue contained methamphetamine, according to the complaint. Police also found a sealed lip balm container.<\/p>\n

After opening it, officers reported finding a white crystal-like substance. The container and substance weighed about 26.3 grams.<\/p>\n

The substance also tested positive for methamphetamine during a field test. A mushroom weighing about 1.2 grams was also found.<\/p>\n

One felony count concerns the alleged methamphetamine. The second felony count concerns the mushroom found in a plastic bag.<\/p>\n

Potential Penalties<\/h2>\n

Each felony drug count carries up to five years in prison. Each count also carries a possible $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The fleeing and theft charges each carry up to 90 days in jail. Each misdemeanor also carries a possible $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n
