Mahnomen Woman Dies After Car Enters Lake<\/h2>\n

MAHNOMEN, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Kaylee Smith, 36, died Wednesday after her car entered a small lake in Mahnomen County.<\/p>\n

Dispatch received a 911 call at about 7:30 a.m. on July 29.<\/p>\n

The caller reported a vehicle off County Road 3, south of Highway 200.<\/p>\n

The car had entered a small lake and was fully submerged.<\/p>\n

Mahnomen County deputies and other officers entered the water after reaching the scene.<\/p>\n

Responders searched for the vehicle and confirmed it remained below the surface.<\/p>\n

Vehicle Pulled From the Lake<\/h2>\n

A deputy attached a fire truck winch line to the submerged car.<\/p>\n

Crews then pulled the vehicle from the water.<\/p>\n

Smith, who lived in Mahnomen, was found dead inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Authorities have not released further details about the moments before the crash.<\/p>\n

The cause remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

Officials have not announced any early findings or possible contributing factors.<\/p>\n

Several Agencies Join Response<\/h2>\n

The Mahnomen County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a> led the response.<\/p>\n

White Earth Police Department officers also assisted at the lake.<\/p>\n

Firefighters from Mahnomen, Waubun, and Twin Lakes responded.<\/p>\n

White Earth conservation officers also helped during the operation.<\/p>\n

The response brought law enforcement, firefighters, and conservation officers to the rural crash scene.<\/p>\n

Their work focused on locating the car and recovering it from the water.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office provides law enforcement services throughout Mahnomen County.<\/p>\n

Investigation Remains Active<\/h2>\n

Investigators are working to determine why Smith\u2019s car left County Road 3.<\/p>\n
