Car Crashes Into Occupied Building<\/h2>\n
Cory James Hauck, 51, of Devils Lake, was arrested after the July 24, 2026, crash.<\/p>\n
The incident happened around 10:44 p.m. at 509 Main Street in Munich.<\/p>\n
A responding deputy found a red Chevrolet Camaro lodged inside the apartment building.<\/p>\n
Hauck said he had been doing burnouts before losing control, according to a court affidavit.<\/p>\n
The Camaro first struck an empty parked vehicle. It then crashed through part of the apartment building.<\/p>\n
Several people were inside the apartment during the impact. One resident suffered a cut on his leg.<\/p>\n
The injured man could not walk without help. An ambulance transported him to a hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n
The affidavit did not provide more information about his condition.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n Hauck told authorities he had consumed five beers before the crash.<\/p>\n A roadside screening test showed a reported alcohol level of 0.13.<\/p>\n A later chemical test at the sheriff\u2019s office showed a reported level of 0.11.<\/p>\n Both test results were included in the court affidavit.<\/p>\n Authorities also reported signs of impairment during field sobriety testing.<\/p>\n Hauck allegedly said several times that he expected to go to jail.<\/p>\n Witnesses said Hauck tried to leave after the crash. They also reported another attempted move.<\/p>\n They said he tried backing the Camaro out of the building before authorities arrived.<\/p>\n Hauck faces a Class B felony charge of criminal vehicular injury.<\/p>\n He also faces two Class C felony charges.<\/p>\n Those charges include fourth-or-subsequent DUI and reckless endangerment with extreme indifference.<\/p>\n Several misdemeanor charges were also filed in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n Authorities said Hauck was driving with a revoked North Dakota license.<\/p>\n The Camaro was unregistered and displayed unlawful license plates.<\/p>\n Hauck allegedly told authorities the vehicle had never been registered.
