Moorhead Teen Accused in Gunpoint Robbery<\/h2>\n

MOORHEAD<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 An 18-year-old faces two felony charges after an alleged armed attack on a rural Clay County road.<\/p>\n

Isaiah Exadrian Lee Rodriguez, 18, was charged July 24 in Clay County District Court.<\/p>\n

He faces first-degree aggravated robbery and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n

The charges remain allegations. Rodriguez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n

Victim Reports Rural Road Attack<\/h2>\n

Deputies responded around 2 a.m. July 19 to a Moorhead home.<\/p>\n

A man outside reported that a group had assaulted him.<\/p>\n

The victim had fresh facial wounds and was bleeding from his mouth, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

He also said his cellphone was taken.<\/p>\n

The victim told investigators he joined a group planning to shoot fireworks outside Moorhead.<\/p>\n

They met at Romkey Park before driving south into rural Clay County.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges Rodriguez displayed a Glock pistol with an extended magazine.<\/p>\n

He allegedly pointed the gun at the victim and threatened him.<\/p>\n

Investigators said Rodriguez forced the victim to drink two shots of alcohol.<\/p>\n

The group then allegedly forced him from the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The victim said several people punched and kicked him while he was on the ground.<\/p>\n

He eventually escaped and ran into a nearby field.<\/p>\n

He reported hearing at least two gunshots behind him.<\/p>\n

He continued running until he found a home with porch lights on.<\/p>\n

The resident helped the victim contact authorities.<\/p>\n

His mother later found his cellphone near northbound Interstate 29.<\/p>\n

Video Allegedly Recorded Part of Incident<\/h2>\n

Investigators also learned that a Snapchat video may have recorded part of the incident.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Rodriguez forced the victim to make a statement on camera.<\/p>\n

After receiving a Miranda warning, Rodriguez agreed to speak with investigators.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he admitted taking another passenger\u2019s gun.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez reportedly said a comment from the victim angered him.<\/p>\n

He allegedly pointed the gun at the victim\u2019s head.<\/p>\n

He then moved the weapon aside and fired past the victim\u2019s face, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez also allegedly admitted punching the victim.<\/p>\n

Suspect Found at Moorhead Park<\/h2>\n

Authorities located Rodriguez early July 23 at Gooseberry Park in Moorhead.<\/p>\n

He was found sleeping inside a vehicle and was taken into custody.<\/p>\n

The Clay County inmate roster<\/a> lists his booking time as 3:52 a.m.<\/p>\n

Minnesota law<\/a> allows up to 20 years for first-degree aggravated robbery.<\/p>\n

The maximum fine is $35,000.<\/p>\n

Second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon<\/a> carries up to seven years.<\/p>\n

The maximum fine is $14,000.<\/p>\n
