Moorhead Bicycle Theft Leads to Criminal Charge<\/h2>\n

Moorhead<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Fargo man faces a theft charge after a bicycle was allegedly taken from a vehicle carrier.<\/p>\n

Arsenio Eugene James, 38, is charged in Clay County District Court with gross misdemeanor theft.<\/p>\n

The alleged theft happened in Moorhead on July 16, 2026.<\/p>\n

The charge involves property valued between $500 and $1,000. The bicycle was reportedly worth about $900.<\/p>\n

James has not been convicted. The allegations remain unproven unless established in court.<\/p>\n

Bicycle Taken From Vehicle Carrier<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, two Moorhead residents had a bicycle secured to their vehicle.<\/p>\n

The bicycle was purple and pink. It had been bought used in November 2025.<\/p>\n

The residents planned to take the bicycle to a repair shop for its owner.<\/p>\n

James allegedly walked past the home, removed the bicycle, and rode away.<\/p>\n

One resident first ran after him. The residents then entered their vehicle and continued following him.<\/p>\n

The complaint says they caught up with James and approached him.<\/p>\n

James then allegedly told them to stay away or he would shoot.<\/p>\n

Police Followed Bicycle Rider<\/h2>\n

A Moorhead police officer saw the confrontation while driving nearby.<\/p>\n

The officer ordered James to stop, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

James allegedly said the residents were trying to hurt him.<\/p>\n

He also claimed the bicycle belonged to his brother.<\/p>\n

James then rode away as the officer followed with emergency lights activated.<\/p>\n

The officer also used the siren and repeatedly ordered James to stop.<\/p>\n

James reportedly stopped twice to adjust the bicycle chain. He then continued riding each time.<\/p>\n

Police eventually caught him and recovered the bicycle.<\/p>\n

Ownership Claims Questioned<\/h2>\n

James again claimed the bicycle belonged to his brother.<\/p>\n

He gave police two different names for the alleged brother, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

James also claimed his brother\u2019s name appeared on the bicycle.<\/p>\n

Police did not find a name displayed on it.<\/p>\n

The bicycle\u2019s owner later gave police an accurate description by telephone.<\/p>\n

James is charged under Minnesota\u2019s theft law. The charge carries up to 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n
