East Grand Forks Man Charged in Registration Case<\/h2>\n

East Grand Forks<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A local man faces a felony charge for allegedly violating Minnesota registration rules.<\/p>\n

Edward Wayne Jenkins-Whitefeather, 25, was charged in Polk County District Court. The charge involves an alleged failure to report a primary address change.<\/p>\n

The criminal complaint was filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District. A warrant was also requested in the case.<\/p>\n

Jenkins-Whitefeather is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n

The complaint states Jenkins-Whitefeather must register as a predatory offender. That requirement followed a 2019 felony kidnapping conviction.<\/p>\n

Authorities were notified that Jenkins-Whitefeather entered Douglas Place in East Grand Forks. His reported start date was May 5, 2025.<\/p>\n

A manager later told investigators that Jenkins-Whitefeather left the facility that same day. Staff members did not know his new location.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges he failed to register the resulting change in his primary address.<\/p>\n

Investigators checked Minnesota\u2019s statewide supervision system on May 14, 2025. The system reportedly listed Jenkins-Whitefeather as having absconded.<\/p>\n

The filing also states a Department of Corrections felony warrant was issued on May 5, 2025.<\/p>\n

Police attempted to call the number listed in his registration records. However, the number was no longer in service.<\/p>\n

The alleged offense date is listed as May 14, 2025. The case number is 60-CR-25-1297.<\/p>\n

Charge Carries Possible Prison Term<\/h2>\n

The charge is failure to register as a predatory offender. It is filed under Minnesota Statute 243.166<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A conviction may bring between 12 months and five years in prison. The court could also impose a $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Those penalties are possible maximums. Any sentence would depend on the court process and case outcome.<\/p>\n
