Perham Man Charged After 105 MPH DWI Stop<\/h2>\n

PERHAM, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 A Perham man faces two DWI charges after a high-speed traffic stop in Becker County.<\/p>\n

Michael James Buck, 32, was charged in Becker County District Court. Both charges are gross misdemeanors.<\/p>\n

The case stems from an incident on June 25, 2026.<\/p>\n

Vehicle Reportedly Reached 105 MPH<\/h2>\n

A Minnesota State Patrol trooper was watching traffic with radar that night.<\/p>\n

The trooper reported seeing a vehicle travel at 105 mph.<\/p>\n

Emergency lights and a siren were activated. However, the vehicle did not immediately stop.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle crossed the fog line during the pursuit.<\/p>\n

The driver later slowed down and stopped along the road.<\/p>\n

Authorities identified Buck as the driver.<\/p>\n

The trooper reported that Buck had slow and sometimes slurred speech.<\/p>\n

His eyes appeared bloodshot, according to the complaint. He also reportedly had an unfocused stare.<\/p>\n

The trooper also reported smelling alcohol.<\/p>\n

Buck allegedly admitted that he had consumed alcohol that night.<\/p>\n

Alcohol Tests Detailed in Complaint<\/h2>\n

Buck completed an eye movement sobriety test, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he showed signs of impairment during that test.<\/p>\n

Buck reportedly cited a knee injury and declined other physical sobriety tests.<\/p>\n

A roadside breath test produced a reported reading of 0.145.<\/p>\n

Buck was arrested and transported to jail.<\/p>\n

He was allowed time to contact an attorney before further testing.<\/p>\n

A later breath test reportedly measured his alcohol concentration at 0.16.<\/p>\n

Two Gross Misdemeanor Charges<\/h2>\n

Buck is charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n

He also faces a charge for having an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists one aggravating factor for each charge.<\/p>\n

Each count carries a possible sentence of 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

Each also carries a possible $3,000 fine, or both penalties.<\/p>\n
